Not much to go on at the moment, pic looks pretty raw but interestingly it looks like they`ve gone for the M3 instead of the M3A1 model. Would like to know if they use the same battery solution as the ARES ?

Actually, this is one of the few standard issue WWII firearms I know little about. What differs an M3 from an M3A1?

ICS is also supposedly coming out with an SMLE. Looks like a lot of manufacturers are beginning to see the light, and recognizing the WW2 niche.

Oh I see it. No wonder the M3 was unreliable. I hope ICS is smart enough to not put the battery in the magazine

agreed with rapture, any company who makes WWII airsoft guns is alright with me. I just hope, like others, that they will fix the battery in the mag issue.

The M3 had a Cocking lever and smaller ejection port. To simplify the weapon they removed the lever, drill a hole into the bolt and lengthened the exhaust port, on the m3a1, you stuck your finger into the hole in the bolt and just pulled back... thus the reason they needed the longer ejection port. Im not sure if the M3 had the loading "helper" (seems wrong to call it a tool) built into the stock or not.

The retracting handle on that ICS looks odd compared to a real one as does the screw in the grip which there never was

Morganm. For someone who admits you don't know much about theM3 Grease gun you sure are quick with an opinion about its reliability! The M3 grease gun wasn't unreliable at all! If anything it was more reliable than a Thompson. It certainly didn't require as much care and upkeep. The Grease gun soldiered on with the Army from WW2 all the way beyond the first gulf war.
I fired many rounds through both a Thompson and a Greaser and in many ways liked the Greaser better. It was ugly and cheaply built It fired the same ammunition as the Thompson (.45 ACP) and could be easily adapted to fire German 9mm rounds as well. You could build 10 Grease guns for the cost of a Thompson) Though simple stamped steel with lose tolerances it was functionally a thing of beauty. Inexpensive to build and much lighter than a Thompson (So's a Buick!) It is a vastly under appreciated weapon that I am a huge fan of. In SE Asia the Thompson had to be cleaned thoroughly and regularly as did all weapons in the tropics but the Greaser fired without jams with little care and in the worst of conditions.
Can't wait to see more details about this offering and excited to see us talking about still another WW2 US weapon.
One posted picture and already folks are picking away at tiny imperfections. It's a wonder anyone caters to our niche.

I was in an armored unit during Desert storm. As tank crewmen, that was our issue weapon, along with the M1911. I saw our arms room filled with them. Sadly, never got to fire one..:-(

They were in our Arms room in Vietnam along with a wide variety of exotic weapons and weapons from WW2. During the Nam War all the armored vehicles had them mounted in brackets inside. There were a couple bracketed inside the M113 for the crews to use although most crewmembers had a M16 carbine as their personal weapons.

Note that the SMLE is labelled as an M1. Either ICS are making an SMLE and have chosen their own nomenclature for it....or they`re making a Garand and used a pic of an SMLE by mistake ?

2nd Bat I know only the basics of the grease gun, but I was aware the M3 had reliability issues and that's why the M3A1 was made, which was a good and effective weapon. I do like Grease Guns, and I know they were much better then stens and were easily converted to 9mm. PPSh and Thompson 1928 are still my reigning favorites, but I like how different the Grease guns looked

The M3A1 was made to further simplify production and eliminate aspects about the gun that weren't essential to its use. The charging handle wasn't needed as the finger slot did everything required and in fact served as a built in safety as the dust cover had a male probe that inserted into the finger slot in the bolt so when closed the dust cover prevented the bolt from moving.
The Thompson weighed 11/1/2 pounds loaded and was hence a couple pounds heavier than a Garand. The Grease gun had decent heft but compared to the Thompson was quite light. Because of the kick generated from the .45 ACP ammunition the layout of the Greaser was actually superior to the Thompson in terms of being able to keep it on target. The magazine was 30 rounds and quite long and by holding the base of the magazine the shooter had good leverage to reduce the amount of climb.
Neither the Thompson or Grease gun could be described as particularly accurate and neither gave much stopping power beyond around 75 yards but inside of that they were both quite viscious. When you fired them you could see the slugs going through the air! (I'm serious!)
Two Grease guns introduced within a few months of each other. Amazing!!!!!! 3 PPSHs last year, a new Mosin Nagant bolt action rifle, a Browning Hi Power pistol Promises of a BAR, Things are hoping! It's about time.
I'd love to see a Garand AEG but I'm afraid given the vast majority of the markets leanings a long heavy low capacity semi automatic rifle is probably not going to be out anytime soon. I've been hoping, praying and lobbying for it for eight years now and hope my prediction that we won't see one in the next five years is totally and completely wrong.
The Greaser and PPSH fit much more closely the small, high rate of fire, BB hoses that seem to sell.

I'd love to see a Garand AEG G+G are releasing a K98 which will be CO2 powered, and according to a dealer who had a talk with them at the Shot Show, they are genuinely looking for ideas for other gun models. If they are going down the CO2 route then maybe a few emails to them suggesting a CO2 Garand wouldn`t be out of order.
