Even the ICS Greaser which is displayed in prototype form at the Shot Show is not predicted to be out until June and the way these things go probably won't be available until Christmas next year.
Remember the topic here is the Greaser. (although I'm with you target.)

Yes indeed lol. They say in the video that the battery will be stored in the receiver, but since it's just a prototype I'm not sure if they will change that or not.

The area below the bolt and barrel looks slightly oversized (Which I have no problem with) and no doubt this is where they intend to house the battery. Delighted to hear it's not in the magazine and hate to say it but it's enough to get me to hold off on ordering the Ares one which I was about ready to do.

I like the fact that it will not have the battery in the mag, but did I hear them right in the vidio that it would be using thompson mags?

Yes you did, and thompson mags are a really good thing because then spare mags are already on the market, that is if the are TM compatible

No battery in the mag is excellent news, I just hope this thing comes out soon. The temptation to just buy an ares and retrofit the battery compartment is very strong.

I strongly doubt it will use Thompson mags as their groove is somewhat unique and would not be applicable with the Greaser. The prototype they showed had an appropriate looking magazine and not a Thompson mag. They certainly could use the internals of a Thompson and simply build a correct outer housing. I did that on my Grease gun AEG when I needed to make spare magazines for it. I bought actual grease gun magazines and inserted the guts from Thompson mags inside. Worked like a charm.

I also highly doubt he meant Airsoft thompson magazines. I think the guy didn't understand the question and was speaking in terms of real guns since he said 45 caliber, while the MP40 shoots 9mm.

So I need to make sure I'm right here... The M3 was created for a simpler alternative to the Thompson, much like the sten or Torkarev pistol. Right?

Yes. The Thompson was a tremedously expensive weapon to produce even after simplified considerably into the M1A1 variant. Production costs were roughly $250.00 which at the time was HUGE money. (A Ford brand new was around $750.00)
The US Army upon seeing the simplistic but highly effective British Sten gun decided to replicate that approach and wanted a weapon that would use the .45 ACP round (just like the Thompson) They came up with the Grease gun which cost roughly one tenth the cost to produce of the Thompson.
The Greaser was certainly not as elegant in looks as the Thompson and the reduced cost of production was quite apprent as they were rough and clearly stamped steel but they worked and worked well. The loser tolerances actually made them less likely to jam and able to shoot longer without carbon buildup mucking up the works. They also worked better when wet or dirty. If there is one thing a soldier really likes it's reliability so ugly is quite secondary to function. Because they weighed less than the Thompson and in some ways had better ergonomics they became quite popular. You often saw them with Armored troops and airborne troops. They were designed to disassemble very easily and actually had a simple adapter kit that allowed them to shoot 9mm parabelum rounds.
I had a couple of the HUDSON Gas Blow backs and really enjoyed them until they inevitably ate their young as always happens with gas blow backs. I sold my custom AEG Grease gun to a fellow in France who still has it. This was about three years ago when rumors were that a Grease gun AEG was imminently pending and I thought I should sell it while I could still get decent money out of it. (Regreted that until just recently!) It used actual M3 magazines fitted with Thompson magazine internals.

maybe i should have mentioned this,
a Asian fellow has recently been showing up to a number of our local gun shows, while he pedals various guns from many manufactures i while i was talking with him he said that he works with ICS and has been sending function-less and non "gun" gun parts back to his company. he said that they were developing an M1 grand, however he may have just been lying to make my buy his KWA FPG, i did by the way, however he did show some parts he had bought that day. among them was an M1 stock

At best, we will have a great, affordable, skirmishable GBBR Garand from DBoys. At worst, we will have a great, affordable stock and metal parts set to use to convert our M14s. So it's a win-win situation. Go Dboys, go!

Alright, so I was at a local airsoft store buying a battery for my new KWA m4 (thats a different story) and I noticed he had a grease gun on his wall of guns. I asked: "is that a hudson m3?" He says no, it is the ICS prototype M3 Grease Gun.
I then put his face to the face of the ICS presenter at shot show...it's the same guy.
Anyhow, I got to hold it and asked a few questions. It still had a plastic body (he says it will be replaced by metal). The mag was defiantly not a thompson mag, and not an mp40 mag. It was also a high cap mag. The battery goes in the body (not sure how) and he says it will use some sort of li-po battery. The charging handle works, exposing the hop-up unit which I didn't really get a good look at. He also says that the release date is set around the end of summer, but with Asia, you never know. Lastly, it is estimated to be about $300.
Overall I says this gun has high hopes, and since I already have my custom Garand, I am saving my money for this bad boy.

Was that a Kar98k right above the Zeta Lab Mosin? If that's the case I suspect ZL is coming out with a Kar98, or that Tanaka/Marushin/dBoys is making a Mosin. Or that could be ARES.
