I too have thought along this line. The hose you are looking at is one of three used in refrigeration-airconditioning work. The yellow hose is the actual hose that hooks up to the refrigerant tank, however all of the hoses have identical fittings. I know that some airsoft shooters like to use the propane gas to save bucks, but there are those who say the propane gas delivers too much pressure and will damage the guns. It would not be difficult to make a fitting to attach the fill tube from a hfc134 can to this hose and then you could use, relatively speaking, cheaper refrigerant r134a gas. Ofcourse you would still have the problem of introducing oil into the system. I think this is the way I understood your question.

couldn't an airsoft innovation gas adapter be put directly on a r134a gas canister?

I don't know exactly which can you are talking about, but if you plan to use cheap gas you will need the hose. When I say cheap I mean relatively. Walmart r134a for use in auto A/C is some of the cheapest, but for really cheap you need to buy the 30 lb cannister. I don't know where you can buy cheaper. You still have the lube prob.
