Hey guys, From someone that has owned 8 of these guys, here is the major difference between the MP43 and MP44. The part of the bolt that carries the fining pin was solid in the MP43. This caused the bolt to slow down and jam the gun with any powder residue. The MP44 had a groove cut into it to allow the residue to fall into. This allowed the gun to run for a longer. Here is a photo to show the difference. The second difference was that the butt sock of the MP43 was larger and would not fit into a standard K98k rifle rack. On the MP44 the butt stock was made smaller to fit in the standard rack. Other than these two differences, if you put the MP43 and MP44 next to each other you couldn't tell the difference without looking at the model stamping. I'll try to dig up the butt stock photo.
