cool. how do you dive in jungles and stuff. Like rivers? . . . not sure about diving in stuff, as I'm older and wiser now, but . . . Marines are Soldier of the Sea! As such the United States Marine Corps is highly proficient in seaborne operations. US Marine Force Reconaissance conducts airborne, searborne (to include SCUBA), rubber boat ops, helo casting, fast ropping, rappelling, ect as the means to insert their teams to conduct recon.

looking good
Also, for interests sake (since those fins look pretty much exactly like the ones my family have and I can't see the logo), are those commercial Scuba Pro Jet fins or, like a lot of other equipment, did the government commission a Marine Specific Variant?

They look like Rocket Fins, very similar. Same ones I had.

The fins are 1960's Aqualung Rocket fins , same as those issued to Marine RECON and Navy SEALs during the War in Vietnam .
You need to remember that Vietnam is not just jungle , they also have a very large coast line and the 1st Marine Division was based at Da Nang ( beautiful Beach) . RECON members are trained for Beach recon and they do this oddly enough from the Sea , so they do need a Dive Locker. They are also undergo Parachute training so they have this thing called a Para Loft , which i will also be putting together soon.

1971 UDT Dive/Swim Trunks , haven't changed much since WWII so they are good to use from early War set up all the way to the end.

To add to the above comments, as reconners in 'nam, the ones that were trained in SCUBA were often called upon to conduct inspecitons of bridge tressles (spelled that wrong...didn't i? LOL) to look for communist placed explosives. they were also called upon to assist in waterborne search and rescue in some of the local rivers and off the coast. As a member of the FRA (Force Recon Assoc.) I haven't met one 'nam vet yet who ever actually used SCUBA via sub (which, by the way, the Marines started, not the SEALS...) or other transport platform to get into a recon area. helo insert was the most common. Ed, my mask and snorkel on vest arrived the other day. we'll have the SacDet dive locker at the airshow this weekend, along with the fledgling paraloft...
