Would 101st airborne paratroopers use an E tool or a folding shovel?

Folding shovel for the most part, but you could getaway with an E tool.

Just to be an a$$ , they are both Entrenching Tools The M1910 Spade was used by Airborne troops , sometimes in full length and sometimes shortened by the trooper himself. The M1943 Folding Spade was also used in both styles.

It really depends on the "period" of your impression. Both folding, and fixed e-tools were used.

I've always been told the folding was issued more so over the t-handle. Either way, you can't go wrong with the folding because the 101st only jumped into Normandy and Market Garden.

Hi guys, Here is the web site of the 506th PIR of the 101st East CO. Band of Brothers guys. They are a re-enacting group in CT. They are the oldest Airborne unit in the North East. 25 years and counting. Tons of research. easy506th.netfirms.com/photos.php
