Big thing with a lot of WW2 guns.. The expected ETA, is rarely the actual release date.
Things always get pushed back for one reason or another. Their K98 was delayed a good 6+ months I believe? At least a few months.

As today is the 19th! will anyone who has pre-ordered the G&G Garand be making a review thread? I am interested if the mags will fit in the m1923 cartrage belt, or if it looks like the gun could accept modified shotgun mags.

I wonder if they will be shipped out soon, or maybe they just got them in stock today? Their website still lists them as pre-order

yea ditto that too. I've been checking their site, almost obsessively you could say! They most likely shipped out today, or they expected them to be delivered today and the order was late. either way we still have to wait :/

They did officially respond to my inquirie that the clips are too large for the Garand belts pouches and that they dont have an official release date yet. Sounds promising as does the ICS. The clips being too big is a shame but not a deal breaker for me on any level

Perhaps the clips might fit in a riggers pouch. . . will be interesting to see!

If I do get the gun, I'll most likely just convert it to accept the small shotgun mags. Or even modify it to accept shortened shotgun mags that actually fit in the belt!

In looking at the pictures I suspect the clips will fit in riggers pouches. At 20 rounds each (probably 17 actual due to the usual 3 rounds of BB drops). one would typically need 6 to 10 clips and a couple speed loaders to be skirmish ready. At $15.00 a piece that adds quite a bit to the actual cost of fielding one of these.
with all that said I cant wait. GnG or ICS I will no doubt buy one of each. It will be interesting to see how they compare.

You'll still be able to use G&G m14 magazines, it will make it alot more field ready

To make us feel better, I personally harrassed the G&G guys at Operation Irene about their Garand.

Please feel free to use the GnG or Classic Army m14 mags (if you insist) when using the gun in local skirmish games full of guys running with tac vests and tennis shoes and digital camo. Dont ruin the fact that we are finally getting a Garand by slapping an M 14 mag in it during a ww2 event.
As WW2 airsoft trwnsitions to a more authentic arena its time to start harping on limited mag capacity so the style of play becomes more team oriented and more fire and manuever and less spray and pray.

I know what you mean, but when I'm being shot at by a fire team with three assualt rifles, I'd rather use a larger magazine than the 8 round clip
That being said, I still use my custom M1 Garand with the modified shotgun clips, or my bolt action kar98 that I built. It is *very* hard to stay effective like that when nearly everyone else is using SMG's with high-capacity magazines. Especially because I'm on an assualt team most of the time

It is *very* hard to stay effective like that when nearly everyone else is using SMG's with high-capacity magazines. Especially because I'm on an assualt team most of the time I think you would have a hard time winning an engagement where you are outmanned three to one no matter what kind of weapon you have, especially when you are on the offensive! If you are outgunned at an open game you'll have to change your tactics. Expecting to hold your own 100% of the time against modern combatants using an airsoft gun that behaves like a gun designed 76 years ago is unrealistic. If you are playing a WW2 game things are a little bit different. I think there is one WW2 airsoft group (can't remember which one at the moment) that restricts submachine guns to a low muzzle velocity and no hop-up, which is a pretty interesting idea and helps differentiate the submachine gunner and rifleman roles. You could also look into modifying your internals so you can outrange the SMG players.

That's good advice. But I am talking about ww2 reenactments, so I guess it's a bit different. It's that most of the reenactors have either SMG's (Thompson, MP40) or assualt rifles (StG44) so even then, being one of the few guys who uses a low capacity rifle is really hard. You really never get at a far enough range at any airsoft event where a rifle will outrange an SMG (besides snipers)

Marushin has a new semi auto M1 Carbine that uses co2!!! I know its not a garand but more opportunities for American rifles is a good thing.

That discussion on the co2 carbine is covered elsewhere. It is great to have so many new choices pending but good golly lets get these garands released for goodness sakes. Theyve been talking about it now since christ was a corporal!

"Back when Christ was a corporal"is an expression my dad (a ww2 vet) used when i was a kid and no doubt was a common expression among GIs back in the war. I always got a kick out of it.
