This is the last time I'm going to ask this question. Are there any units or people who wish to form a unit in Missouri, Illinois, or Kansas? It seems like there's a group doing something everywhere else, but not here. I live in St. Louis Missouri and would be willing to travel into Illinois and as far west as Kansas City to play. I realize that there was talk of forming a unit about a year ago and that they did actually meet up once, but it seems like all of those people disappeared so something.

The only active groups that I know of that do regular games are in New England and Wisconsin. California, Michigan, and Florida/Georgia host a game now and then. Missouri did host a game last October and misfit13 (the event organizer) did an awesome job of trying to drum up interest. But he can't do it all alone. Apparently that game went well yet only a few of the players (the polite ones) posted after action comments.
Don't give up if you're really interested in the hobby but developing regular events and maintaining a continuous interest are huge hurdles in this hobby. Good luck. It's a lot easier to play computer games or to find other excuses. Maybe if you drove one extra State you could participate.

I've been looking for some blank-fire units in my area as well, but so far no luck. Hopefully I can find some people out there that want to form a unit, we really need one. The only problem is most of the people that play airsoft around here are 13 year olds who got all of their WW2 knowledge from Call of Duty, now I myself am 16 going on 17 but there is no way I'm playing with people that young. Even if they had the money and will to make a unit they would probably want to make it something so obscure that we could never play, like a Waffen-SS Falschirmjaeger Sturmpioniere detachment or something, I'd bet they would all be outfitted with StG44s and Italian camo too.

Perhaps you could pm misfit13 and tell him you're willing to help for the next event. Bring a friend or two and get them interested and be a cheerleader for the hobby. Don't get discouraged and keep trying.

I'm putting an advertisement on the St.Louis Airsoft Players' Forum, I think that's the best place to start. I'll send misifit a PM as well.

Herr Jack has the right of it. We do not have a dedicated group in our area which exclusively participates in WW2 games, at least to my knowledge. There are a smattering of WW2o'files in the St. Louis area, but nothing close to an entire unit. Just a Landser here, a GI there, a Serov, and Sir Veilance of course .
Misfit13 went to a huge effort to host a game last year, and we helped as best we could, unfortunately we just did not get the numbers we hoped for.
I had a great time, and for my part hope Misfit will be willing to host another game in the future, and will support him as best I am able.
Really, I think you best bet is as Herr Jack mentioned. Try carpooling out to some of the games farther away.

I'm probably going to give up on airsoft and see if I can join a black-fire unit instead. Most of them have artillery pieces and vehicles.

I joined a blank fire unit here in St. Louis, I guess I'm moving up in the world. WE have two motorcycles, a Opel Blitz, 5cm mortar, Panzerfausts, Lafette tripods for our MGs, and a lot of stuff. So fun.

I've done blankfire with the Nordland group out of KC, good bunch of guys. Right now Eastwind is my main money-pit but since I have all the parts to convert my MG3 back into an M53 I've toyed with the idea of WWII airsoft. Nothing in the area though, as has been pointed out.
