I see some uniform items (mostly US) listed on Ebay for very reasonable costs. He currently has some Mackinaw Jeep jackets, tanker jackets and Tanker bibs listed . He says they are made in the US and his address is Bellingham NY. Does anyone have first hand experience with his work? The Mackinaw looks quite good in the add and he has large sizes.

I ordered the Mackinaw and hopefully will be pleased with it. At $59.00 shipped it seems frankly too good to be true. They have a tanker jacket and tanker bib pants that interest me also.

The seller is 87prostreet. If you do a search for Mackinaw Jeep Coat his offering(s) will show up.I'll do a review and since I have an actual first pattern Mackinaw I should be able to do a good comparison. Mackinaws have always been a good value when compared to actual M 41 Field Jackets but I see where the price has recently gone up quite a bit. The first pattern had the outer wool collar which looks much cooler in my opinion than the later versions.
the Mackinaw is a very warm and comfortable coat.

I have a question about the Coat. I usually go as a Tech Sgt or First Sgt for my impression. What color chevrons would be used on the coat?
Thank you in advance.

Eager to hear from either of you about the quality of the mackinaws. I own two originals of the first pattern, and always thought they were a stylish, comfy jacket. I just wish socal had more cold weather, I rarely get to use them

Not an issue up here in the pac nw. For your chevrons youll want to go with the khaki on black. Ww2 stripes. In either the felt or cotton although technically the felt was supposed to be for the wool uniform a regulation that was often ignored. You often saw officers and higher ranking NCOs with the mackinaws as they originally were a between wars coat (1936) and hence often only owned by pre war servicemen who with the advent of the war skipped up the ranks. Much much warmer than the M41 and nearly on par with the wool overcoat. Its a great field jacket. I have a Jeep and even at a top speed of 45 miles an hour the winter wind bites you if you're in an M41. The wool collar snugs up nicely around your neck with the Mackinaw.

So i recieved the jacket and my first impression upon lifting the box was that it seemed light. My actual Mackinaw is quite heavy so I was a bit concerned. Upon opening the box and pulling it out I quickly disregarded my concern about the weight and was very impressed. The quality is very, very good. Though the seller listing on Ebay has a different handle and a Bellingham NY address, the coat had labels indicating WHAT PRICE GLORY out of California. I have no reason to doubt it's the same brand but it was unexpected.
The outer material as anticipated is somewhat lighter weight weave than the original and likewise the wool in the liner and collar are lighter weight than the original. Unless you compared them side by side it is doubtful one would notice. The color on the reproduction tends more toward a greenish khaki than the original which is more of a light, mustard brown. Shades during the war varied greatly and the original is well over 60 years old and slightly worn. (mostly by me!) With this in mind the slight disparity in colors doesn't bother me in the least but I know there are folk who would have a canipshun fit over it.
When ordering sizes its always a crap shoot with these things to guess if the maker went with actual WW2 size patterns or literal sizes. In WW2 the army sized overcoats and the M43 Field Jacket way larger than the prescribed size to accomodate multiple layers of clothing so the physical coat is typically way way larger than the official size. 4 to 5 inches on an overcoat or M43 for example. However since size labels are often missing on the original items sellers often list them according to the measurements. for buyers of actual or reproduction uniforms, know your size requirements and get the dimensions on items you want to buy. This coat followed the WW2 patterns so it is quite large.
In a first person account I am reading currently (Visions from a Foxhole) The soldier mentions that he typically wore longjohns, two sets of wool uniforms, and a sweater under his M43 and stuffed a blanket in as well.
This reproduction Mackinaw is a beautiful coat that will look better once it has been fielded and is a bit soiled. For $59.00 delivered and made in the US I dont know how the seller makes that work. I am delighted with the purchase and will post some pictures once i get the sleaves shortened which is always a requirement for my short, stubby body.
I am very happy with this purchase.

Great review 2nd Bat. I received mine in about 3 days after purchase. I too was concerned about the weight of the package, but once opened I was very happy. I feel the jacket is made well and will serve me nicely for those cold weather events.
I would add more, but 2nd bat did a thorough job.
For $59.00, well worth it.

I planned to buy the windcheater (tanker jacket) he also lists but now all his clothing items are only available in HUGE sizes. I will follow his offerings to see if and when he gets in a wider selection of sizes and perhaps has other choices. He shows tanker bib overalls which are tempting as real ones are outrageously expensive.
