Good day everyone
I currently own the marushin CO2 M1 carbine, but dislike the current stock, which i strongly suspect to be pine, or some cheaper wood.
I was wondering if a real steel M1/M2 carbine stock & handguard set would fit, as I currently have the opportunity to aquire a USGI hardwood set. I wanted to make sure it was compatible before i sank in the money.
thanks in advance

You will have to dremel it out in numerous places but it will work fine. Note that the actual hard walnut is a lot harder wood than the pine or ash your carbine is currently made of but is still fine to work with provided you have the right tools. You wont have to do too much tweaking actually and potentially could doll up the rifle quite nicely.

I see, could you tell me roughly how much, and where i'd have to dremmel? I'm out of practice with it, and don't want to bite off more than I can chew.

I have seen a step-by-step tutorial on how to fit on an m1a1 carbine stock on this forum before. It shows where to dremel out the wood, and everything you really need to know. Maybe you should check it out, it might give you a little more clear idea on it.

UPDATE: for those who are interested, I received the stock and handguard, and over the course of the last week, managed to fit the marushin to it. The project was more difficult and became more convoluted as i went on, as the marushin differed from the real steel in many areas. This resulted in much more dremmeling than I would have liked. There are still minor fit issues, mainly regarding the handguard, which was difficult to shape properly Overall I feel good about this project. The GI wood set really improved the look of the gun, giving it a worn, well used look. The walnut of the stock also feels much better than the standard pine wood. UPDATE: pictures posted as promised, I apologize in advance as I am a very novice photographer I feel the biggest issue was the handguard, the metal plate had to be dremmeled quite a bit. There are three screws in that area that necessitate said dremmeling in order for it to fit properly. The second issue is the receiver itself. In the first photo, it sits roughly half a centimeter too high, exposing the bottom of the bolt and the rest of the reciever. The rear lug was already as low as the recoil pad would allow, and I really didn't feel like dremmeling weapons grade steel in addition to the huge amount of walnut that would have to go if it were lowered. The third issue is that my stock was not centered properly. Combined with the marushin receiver being wider on the right side, meant I had to dremmel very close to the right side of the stock. There are only two mm left on the right once I had accommodated both bolt spring and reciever. I have not taken this to a skirmish yet, nor will I for about 2 months, when the next college vacation hits. Until then, I cannot say how well this will perform. I will say however, walnut is a b!tch to dremmel compared to the pine. I would trust 2mm of walnut over 3mm of pine. Any questions, comments, suggestions, feel free to ask them
