Do you guys carry real steel bayonets or plastic ones? Do you guys carry your entrenching tool into the game or leave it. I am putting together my stuff slowly and I have an SSbelt some BGS suspenders a swedish canteen(not quite corect I don't think but I have seen two differing types of canteens on people. Two bread bags. I will be getting an etool soon and was wondering it if it worth the time and money. Has anyone made a gas canister? As these can be rather expensive for an item that will only really look good I was just curious. Perhaps(and no one laugh) you could use a Quaker oats cylinder wraped in fiberglass cloth?
The BGS suspenders are awfully short so not sure what I am going to do there. I plan on getting mag pouches either the K98 or the MP 44 pouches(they fit AK mags which I have) Anything I left out of what I need a holster maybe?
Working on an FJ impression I may not need the suspenders though not sure how to keep the belt up:)

We carry real bayonets. We just don't affix them...for obvious reasons. And I carry an entrenching tool. Some guys don't. It's really your personal preference.

I have a bayonet at most games but i dont affix it to the kar 98 i just keep it sheathed. The last time i was at one of the biggest airsoft sites in Scotland i was in the safe zone showing the marshals the rifle with a bayonet on, i asked them if it would be ok if i stuck a BB to the end of the bayonet and use it they laughed.

I haven't really decided yet. Now that I have ALMOST ( But not quite) a full issue set of German TA-50 (web gear) I am discovering what many German soldiers must have experienced in WW2.
Its just so much crap to carry!
I HAVE a German folding E-tool But no carrier. I Just shove it in the belt with the folded spade in the closed position. Ive seen pics of 12SS grenadiers doing this, So, I Am thinking of foregoing the 60$ Price tag for the carrier.
(Ya, right, that will last till i discover I have an extra 60$. Its a will power issue)

i have a e-tool for my outfit but i've only fielded it twice.....games move too fast to dig in for the most part.also have a M3 knife but i can wear it out on the field...damn safety stuff..lol... oh, wanted to ask...weren't FJ s issued pistols on a regular basis?think i read somewhere that it had to do with them having to not jump with a main weapon but having to gear up from para containers once they landed...but i'm sure gordak or someone can correct me if i'm wrong. ;D

Hi All, SS-Man, Sascha Gusdorf here. If you want to "gear up" just like a real Soldat would've done back in WWII, here goes; you could take this list to the bank. 1. Leather Belt with correct branch Buckle 2. Leather Y-Straps (or period correct Tropical Y-Straps; DON'T get any East German stuff; they're "Flaggrantly Wrong" and totally incorrect). 3. K-98 Ammo Pouches (or D-rings) 4. German WWII Bayonet 5. E-Tool with Carrier 6. Breadbag 7. Canteen (no East German or anything else for that matter).
This is pretty much your basic German Soldat's Gear Set. It's very important to realize that if you're gonna' portray a German soldier in the Second World War, try to remember to do it right. I do in fact understand that this stuff could get a lil' pricy, but NEVER substitute the right pieces with "non-period correct" pieces; it makes the whole experience change, and makes you look rediculous at the same time. The main thing about the German War Machine in the Second World War was that the SS as well as the Heer were very strict when it came to details. The SS, the Heer, and the Fallschirmjagers didn't even like swapping and using one another's stuff.

Good list, but wow, your certainly diggin' up the ol' posts Might want to add the Gasmask Cannister in there, simply because it goes against training to be anywhere without it. Now some folks will be like "Well they dumped those in Russia, here are like 80 period photos" an' I won't say those folks are wrong, but what I will say is that the soldiers in those photos, assuming they lived, would be EXTREMELY reprimanded for their lost gear. Soldbuchs record all gear issued, an' even in late war there were still checks at collection points, an' the like. Blame German efficiency for that one

Hi Reiner, Yeah, you're absolutly right; the Gas Canister would have certainly been included in the Basic Gear. Not including it in the list was a "brain fart" on my part. Oooops (ha-ha).

the FJ wore their own type of Y-Straps. They were slimmer. Yes they were issued pistols a few greands, and a flare gun for the jump.
