I've noticed some things about this M1 Carbine though, that I'd like to change for it to be more historically accurate. 1. It would be nice to change the rear sight to the L-shaped, flip sight that was not able to be adjusted for windage and elevation. The rear sight this Marushin model brings isn't incorrect, but it was introduced very late in the war and only a few manufacturers actually changed it. I wonder if it would be possible to change the sight. 2. The safety. The Marushin model has the rotatable safety, which isn't incorrect, but was introduced extremely late in the war as well. The carbines that saw the most service/action had the button push safety. 3. OBVIOUSLY the color. Everyone knows it should be darker, so I'm not even going to get into it. 4. OBVIOUSLY the bayonet lug (everyone knows about that too). It comes with a type 3 barrel brand, but I plan to do the same thing HornetWSO did on his: unscrew the front sight and slip it right off. I don't think much can be done about the safety, but hopefully the rear sight can be changed. Something can definitely be done about the barrel band and the color, however. It's small little things like these; they're no reason to stress about, I'm just pointing out some things (in case you didn't notice or are interested) that would be nice to alter. Any inputs? big issue with the parts is that prices (at least around here) have been reaching extortionist levels for ANY WWII carbine parts. I appreciate authenticity, but i'm not made of money XD.

Nicely done as always. I like the darker stain you applied as well.

roma how did you remove that rear sight? Is it possible to remove the rear sight on the new co2 version?

I saw one of the new CDX CO2 Marushin Carbines at Airsoft Extreme and the stock is now a dark walnut finish that looks quite nice. Mine was a lighter finish which I modified and darkened. The new finish is as it should have been all along and looks great. Removing the bayonet lug and replacing the rear site with the correct peep sight is an easy mod.

Sorry about the necro, but I didn't think this warranted its own thread due to the related subject matter. My particular marushin CO2 M1 carbine is NOT compatible with original sights. My carbine is a bit of frakengun however, as it has M2 carbine markings with the new M1 internals.
The marushin sight uses two screws, so that borks any sight switching ideas. If you plan on buying the sights, check for compatibility before you buy one. However, the front barrel band is compatible.

Nice information. I was not aware of the sling hardware revision. Man we are an anal group!
