After Action Report for April 27th. Allied Forces.
To start with, we had 3 Germans and 5 Allied. Because of this we had only used a small section of the field; the area around a small stream in a ravine, a bridge crossing and two small towns on either side. The German Forces were to hold their side of the river and push the Allied attacks back. We all started around 1000hours and immediately had some intense combat. The FJ's Ray and Josh, along with Heer soldaten Mark, all showed a great effort in pushing back a numerically superior force, and even managed to capture an American Lt! After holding off and pushing back the Allies, The Americans counterattacked and thrust across the river! Gaining a foothold at the bridge, the Allies were held up by the newly arrived collaborateur sniper for the German forces. With fire suppression from a nearby fort by a gallant FJ, The Frenchman managed to pin down and halt the Allies. An ambitious private Dean, managed to pull a flanking manouver around the left side of the reloading Frenchman Matt, and take him out, allowing the rest of the Allied forces to capture the village, but at a cost.
After the Germans retreated back to their encampment for lunch, the Allied decided to do the same at around 1350hours. Much merriement was enjoyed as men tried to cook over the fire, with many fingers becoming quite uncomfortably toasty! ;D After the German ranks were left beleaguered, (Ray and Josh unfortuneatly decided to leave ) Soldaten Mark rounded up another 2 Civilians; Dan and Pat, turned collaborateurs, in an effort to capture precious fuel for his escape! In his first encounter, the Allies managed to lay down enough suppressive fire to cover the American runner Dean as he grabbed the fuel can! The Axis forces pushed back fiercely and nearly wiped out the entire Allied force except for a lone young French Patriot! They pushed hard, but the time ran out for the German. In a last ditch effort, another fuel can was discovered and an Axis runner was quickly dispatched to grab it. Once in their possession, the Axis forces dropped back to hold off the Allies. The Americans, seeing the tactical flaw, pounced on the opportunity and advanced on the axis flanks! With Lt Speirs and Pvt Dean advancing on the right, and Sgt Migs' forces advancing on the left, Frenchmen Matt and then Pat were eventually hit. With a Jammed shotgun, Frenchman Dan tried to hold off the young Lt and Pvt, and once Soldaten Mark was hit, Frenchman Dan salvaged his Mp40. At the last moment, the wounded Lt. took up arms with the lone Frenchman and quickly dispatched Pvt Dean. Forgetting about their right flank, Sgt Migs advanced unopposed and speedily took out both of the remaining Axis forces.
A great climactic end to a great event. With a total of 11 players, one may think it would be a meek event, but it showed to be an extremely action packed event! Aggressive tactics, along with plenty of cover and very dynamic terrain lent to the intense games. Definitely a field you will not get bored with!
