I'm looking for a guide or tips on how to do this. Anyone have experience they can share?

It is very simple from what I have seen. You should be able to flip up the upper receiver and move the bolt or something like that. Just look up videos, if you can't find anything useful on YouTube look up oddballs review, he shows how to disable it in his "s&t ppsh review" or its some title like that.

When you flip the receiver open, make sure your bolt is pulled far back enough that it won't catch on the upper, don't need it all the way back. There's a groove cut in the middle of the bolt. If you slide the bolt back and forth, you will see there is a little nub-something or other in that groove cut in the bolt.
Gently lift/pry the bolt over that little nub thing, slide said nub thing all the way back of the gun.
Voila!

That's one way, but the most sure fire way is take your gun apart, open the gearbox and take out this L looking bar that is above and behind the piston
