I was thinking about this one night and thought it might be cool to modify a d-boys k-98 to a lee enfield. I know the 1903 is a more similar match to the k-98 but are the measurements even somewhat close enough to work with a surplus stock? I won't have an trouble with the shells so really I just want to know if it's possible. EDIT: I was thinking of just buying a Denix SMLE and using the parts from that since they aren't readily available like the 1903's

But that's really the point isn't it? To have fun building it? Well anyway I really just need a project to occupy my time and I kind of want a shell ejecting Lee Enfield because I want to start a British Airborne impression soon

Understandable on the need for projects, I'm on the same boat! Although if you are looking to get a British airborne Impression together, a shell ejecting SMLE would most likely not be your best choice. If you have ever gamed with a Dboys kar98k, or have ever shot one to begin with, you will know the pitfalls of shell ejecting. It looks cool for a backyard plinker, but trying to game with it is a nightmare! I tried playing against my friends, around my house all armed with spring pistols, except for myself with my Dboy 98k. Not only was it less accurate then my crappiest pistol, I was completely outgunned! I immidately dumped it for my m1911 and did much better!
I think if you go through all the trouble to build a shell ejecting SMLE, and try to game with it, you will be very dissapointed. Not only that you have difficulty playing but also that you wasted all your time and effort to make a SMLE that you can't skirmish with. So you would either have to buy a Bar-10 and try to cobble the internals for that into your SMLE, or spend your other arm and leg for another Denix gun and Bar-10 to convert.
I'm not saying you should skip the rifle all together and buy a sten, because even when I played at the last event: Battle of the Hurtgen Forest, I used my Bar98k conversion very effectively. Once I gave it to my newly arrived friend and had him join the Germans to balance sides, he effectively held off 5 Americans armed with Thompsons and a 2ndBat M1, all with a single Bar-10/Dboys 98k conversion!
food for thought

Yeah, I've shot a D-boys Kar-98 before. I know it's problems like shells getting stuck, poor accuracy and crappy action. I can produce my own shells so that's a major plus. All I would have to do then is and down a 6mm barrel to fit inside the stock barrel so the shell still feeds. Nothing really I can do for the crappy action but hey. Thanks for the input guys it's really helping me out. I just kinda want a shell ejector so I can actually hold the correct amount of ammo in in the historically pouches.

If you're going to be doing British Airborne, you'd have to build a Lee Enfield No.4, not an SMLE though. Using the Denix will be too much work. You can still get Real steel parts for relatively cheap. But i'm with brownien on this one. You'd do better using a VSR10/Bar10 as a base. The receiver of the K98 is so different from the Enfields. At least with a Bar10, the simple receiver can serve as a sort of blank canvas that you can work with. Even if you want realism, kar98 is not the way to go. Remember that the enfields load 10 rounds, while the k98 only has 5. The bolt handle of the enfield is so much further back than that of the k98. And it will be very difficult to mod the dboys k98 bolt (one piece) as compared to the Bar10 bolt (bolt handle separate from cylinder).

Yeah I guess you're right. I know that the LE holds 10 rounds, I was going to just add and extra feeder to it and weld it to the bottom of the mag. I guess all I really wanted from it was to have that firing pin feature where when you shoot it the pin shoots forward. Ah, it's going to be a long way away anyway (<--This...) I need to rebuild my funds again. Building that 1903 took a right chunk out of my budget. Haha, if anyone wants one built just ask!
