So my friend is thinking of doing French Resistance but wants to use a bolt action gun. We're probably going to use a Vsr-10, but just thought to ask, do you guys think the MB01 would make a better candidate? I've seen a guy make a 1903 out of one and it turned out alright. Also, has anyone here built a MAS-36 so I could get some pointers?

Just from Googling pictures of the French Resistance, the weapons seem to run the gamut. Lots of Stens and MP40s. Some odd Lebels and Berthiers. I would guess that MAS36s might have been a bit unusual since the frontline troops would have been issued them and would have been the ones to surrender to the Germans, while the reserves who hadn't been rearmed yet would have had more opportunity to stash weapons. But the fun of playing Resistance is having so many possibilities, so I'd say go for it with the MAS36.
I would think a VSR10 would be relatively easy to convert. The bolt handle's in the right place. Making that forward sweep might be kind of difficult. From the pics of the MAS36 it looks relatively beefy, so it seems like it would mostly be matter of building up the stock and creating that metal section between the butt and the forestock. It's actually a kind of crude looking weapon. Seems pretty doable, but how many times have I said that before (with my garage full of unfinished projects).
