I can't seem to find an answer for this, but how common was the egg grenade used by German troops? I always see pictures of troops carrying the stick type, and on rare occasion the egg type (but I also hear they were stowed inside the tunic) and also troops prefer the stick type because they can be thrown further. Anyone have a definitive answer to which was used more?

I would imagine the egg grenade would be easier to manufacture and thus be used in greater numbers, but if its anything like the tiger tanks, the Germans would pick performance over mass production ease.

The egg grenade as I understand it was more abundant then the stick grenade but was typically carried in pockets and pouches hence less pronouncedin pictures. I'm sure like all things German there are precise production numbers.
