Looks alot more like a Bren than a Type 99 if you ask me. Type 99: Bren:

From what I understand the Type 100 was strongly influenced by Czech ZB26 LMGs captured from the Chinese. The ZB26 was the of course the origin of the Bren gun. The Type 100 seems to have been a pretty gun weapon, but the Japanese applied their own peculiar sense of style to the design. That carrying handle just looks like someone put it on backwards.
--That's what happens when I haven't had my coffee yet. Meant to type "99", not "100".

Yeah that's not a type 99 or 96 anyways. We'll probably find this in the bargain bin at Wal-Mart

Probably not as it is quite obscure. I think it's neat that someone makes it. If i had to guess i suspect it is half or 3/4 scale. Tragic that someone would go to the effort on a cheapy cheapy springer because it would seem something along those lines with a decent AEG Gear box would be just about as easily done.
Even a close proximity to a bren gun that was skirmishable and priced like the A&K M249s would be a big hit and great addition for our sport.
