Everywhere I see there are some form of Normandy, west front or DAK helmet camouflage schemes on helmets, and with the exception of white-wash on Eastern Front helmets in the winter, I can't seem to find any sort of spring/summer re-paints, in film reels they seem to use the zeltbahn quite often, would anyone have any photos or sources on Eastern front helmet camos?

There is no such thing as "DAK", or "Normandy" camoflages. While collectors commonly refer to these, they don't really mean anything. Normandy camo was standard panzer tri-color. Thus, many mechanized units would use spray guns equipped with their vehicles to paint helmets. "DAK" camo is just a basic DAk undercoat and whatever green paint they could get, usually brushed on. Most of these camos are from mechanized units, because they were the ones with paint to use for vehicles. Some bunkers were also camoed, and they might have had access. As a general rule of thumb for camo, just get creative, using any color that can be seen in the RAL spectrum of colors.

Thanks, I figured as much and portraying a mechanized unit it wouldn't be to outrageous to have a scheme, just common sense I suppose. I know that about the Normandy and DAK, should have specified I guess.

Ww2 German camo patterns look nothing like any of he camo patterns developed by the US military, or that of any nation after ww2. I have no clue what gave you that impression dasreich. Stick to the suggestions made previously.

"nothing like" is a relative phrase. there are definitely similarities to German Flektarn and the German dot camouflage from WW2. Are they close enough to be acceptable for a WW2 depiction? that entirely depends on the standards and expectations of the event sponsors or groups. There was a time when I would have been fine with it (and in fact was!). The proliferation of good, reasonably affordable (and available) impressions means that for me (and most folks on this forum) modern patterns are no longer acceptable. Ignorance is bliss and on some levels our elevated level of awareness makes it easier for us to be distracted and bothered by even the smallest infidelities. I'm not entirely sure it leads to greater or lesser enjoyment of the hobby and certainly contributes to the potential image by outsiders that we are a snobby, aloof group of unwelcoming elitists!!!! Iin fact most folks here are very happy to accept new members and assist them in their quest for improving levels of authenticity.
