Hello, Ben here. Although I've been reenacting now for quite some time, and am currently with 11th Komp. "Das Reich" (based outta' Texas and Louisiana), the "Airsoft" approach is one aspect that I've become very enthusiastic about and would most certainly like to begin my hunting for the perfect gun as soon as possible. I, like many other German reenactors, have taken a big interest in the MP40, and would love to acquire one; but, I've been hearing many mixed feelings on the versions that have come out. Some of you feel like the gun sucks; not having proper accuracy, lacking in realism, and internal wares and tears; these are just some of the comments that I've read. I guess my question would be "Is there a company that makes a very good version of the MP40? Is the one put out by TOPP any good?" I'm not sure; I could really use everyone's help on this. I don't wanna' throw away my money, and I know that all of you could help me make the best decision. Thanks a bunch fellas; I really appreciate it.

If you buy a used broke ass TOP throw away the internals and put 300-400.00 worth of different internals in then I hear it is a fine performer.

I am waiting for the 800 dollar gas one made by some guys. I donno who ask gordak. Since your a reenactor you will probably like that more because of blowback, unless its an external air source.

yup the shoei is way worth the wait, but an upgraded top mp40 would be very good, (also $800+ when u finish it) , Personally i like the recoil and noise of the shoei. -Gordak

I think it's a good idea to write and ask Shoei about their MP40 plans, before you save your money for that. As a worst case scenario, i think you could end up waiting 1-2 years for it.
