Check out my Normandy camouflage paint and texture job I did on my M38. I used sawdust and primer to do the texturing. You will have to go to my photobucket page to view it because we have used up all the alloted space we have on this forum for attachments. Hopefully the admin will get that straightened out, but for now we need to use flicker or photobucket to show our handy work off.

I did an awesome textured Normandy camo m35 a while back, but sold it. I'll post pics when the forum's posting problem gets fixed.

Your two day stubble is perfectly appropriate. Even in the German Army if anyone thinks the german soldier was always clean shaven during field campaigns they are sorely mistaken. In the Normandy battles. june through July the FJs were in the thick of field operations often at very close quarters to the Amis, Brits and Canadians and dragging a razor across ones chin would have been a very low priority. These were also not a great time for lots of posed pictures but even so and even with the German propaganda machine in full swing avoiding unkempt looking soldiers you still see plenty of pictures to substantiate a few days growth on both allied and axis soldiers. It is a simple fact of field living.

Lol, Manchmal müssen uns Jäger Verordnung am Wegesrand lassen, wenn wir für das Vaterland kämpfen Herr Oberschärfürer!
I know, I know I am looking a bit scruffy. I will be getting a regulation cut and shave before returning to active duty!

Officers generally tried to set an example and made an effort to shave daily but there were many days when even for officers shaving was a luxury that had to be left un done. I think a couple days growth adds to the combat look.

You and your dad look awesome and the attention to detail are much appreciated along with your supportive input. Your input in person and online is always positioned insight that is educational in tone rather then coming across as critical. Unfortunately so many of our members (without meaning to) come across as sort of SHELDON like from the show the BING BANG THEORY. Insensitive know it alls with no clue how they are perceived. There is a persistently chronic tendancy here which is hard to get ones arms around.
By in large I'm thrilled to say this remains a supportive and informative forum and positive community but once in a while...Yikes!

Another issue is it can be hard to express your actual meaning over the internet. Such as a simple joke can come off as being sarcastic, and the such.

Indeed. Without tone its hard often times to read intent. Many of my posts come across as biting or harsh and it is never (rarely) my intent to be that way. Clearly I have hijacked this thread and will ask that we stay on the subject of Jerry nice paintjob.

Actually, for all the talk about stubble, if he REALLY wants to look like a Falli, he should grow it OUT! Like, a full beard or goatee! The FJ were quite lax in allowing troops to grow extremely non-regulation facial hair. It wasn't every unit or every guy or at all times, but there are plenty of photos of real-life FJ soldiers who would fit in much better at a Civil War re-enactment than a WWII one.
