I'm looking at purchasing some tropical Y straps for my Late War Impression and I was wondering how often were they seen? I cant seem to find many pics of them being used.

Black Y straps were much more common, but old supplies of Tropical Y straps were issued to some units. But keep in mind if you have tropical Y straps and plan to start a unit, most of the guys in your unit will need tropical y straps. Also, very late in the war they started producing canvas y straps as the supply of leather was going down.

They saw their fair share of use in Italy and the Ukraine/southern Soviet states. I swear I have some pictures where they're clearly visible. I'll see if I can dig them up for you!

The web y straps aka tropical y straps were used by the germans in all of their theatres of war. Pictures are out there. Have a few in books where the canvas straps show up in The Bulge of all place.
I recall reading a first hand account of "Afika Korps" soldiers in Post D Day 1944 France. I assumed this was due to their gear and uniforms. IIRC the book was Winged Dagger by Roy Farran. Basically about his life and experience in wwii as part of the SAS.
