^stuck up^. I'm not trying to change history at all, its a real gun and that the FJ used so I'm not trying to change anything. I was into WWII stuff way before airsoft, so I care about the history of WWII. I don't have the money or time to make a realistic apperance. The meaning of this post was to see if making a folding stock mauser would be possible. I'm sorry I don't have all the money in the world to have an impression to your likeing. .

Well, if you have time to make a folding stock mauser and money to buy one then you are a lier. I'm sorry if I have offended you, but I have been playing airsoft for 7 years now and I can say your attitude is indeeed a "disgrace". Airsoft is about building a bond between your team mates and yourself. I am sorry if you disagree with me, but on the eve of memorial day I believe you miss the whole point of WWII reenacting and airsofting alike!

Guys guys calm down. Let us work on what brings us together not on contention. 6th: You can be short on money but we all have the time some just take longer than others to aquire everything. Your gun existed obviously, but it was very rare weapon. Considering the scaricity of Axis weapons and people using anything from AK's to MP5's to M4's with good German impressions there is no reason for you not to be able to use the folding K98 if you can find one...Let me know if you find one of those stocks cheap (I imagine those are very very pricey). Andrew/Mauser/Sascha: You guys all started out somewhere and I am sure you were not totally correct out of the box, But you found someone helpful that showed you the way and you corrected yourself as you could and now you have great impressions some of you more than 1. Let us all be brothers in WW2 airsofting.

Amen brother Dan.
If you are going to do it though, try cutting the stock off at that point of where it disconnects and get a bracket to attach, it actually seems very simple.

Yes, lets forget the whole thing and move on, I have my opinions you have yours. I appreciate your attitude toward the situation AADan. As I said before airsoft is more than just shooting the crap out of your friends, it is a way to connect to something that is bigger than yourself.

Yeah man, I'll go ahead and take a pause for the cause. If this crazy forum topic got outta' hand, and I had something to do with it, then I humbly do appologize. Some of us get wayyyyy too pationate and dedicated (especially me) to the German aspect of the second World War. We, as dedicated reenactors, could get outta' hand, and turn really brutal. We first strive for "uniform", then "firearm". Sorry bro! All bullapplesauce aside, in my oppinion, if you could really dedicate your attention to piecing together a good SS Fallschirmjager impression, and then attacking an appropriate firearm (including the folding-stock Kar-98), I, for one, would kill ta' have you in a Unit. Seriously man.

does the airsoft kar have necessary equipment in the stock? Like wires running through it or anything? Becuase if it doesnt, then it would be possible, and I for one would like to see one.

My K98 conversion could be done that way, A tanaka could probally be done that way. There are no wires. Only airsoft K98's I know are gas or spring, no AEG's.

I think a spring verison would be easier because the gear boxes are simple. I wish I knew how to custom make things, then I would drop my Tac 9 into a mauser stock and barrel.

If you were to make a folding stock, couldn't you just cut the stock/attach some weird hindge thing to it? I thought you said they weren't wire. That would make things muy facil. Well, to a point. Shorter barrel? You could buy tanakas mountain version, its shorter already. The questions, is how much shorter?

There is always a balance between being perceived as stuck up and setting high standards. Attitudes amongst people who are passionate about their hobbies be it golf, baseball collecting or airsoft can sometimes be very intimidating and unwelcoming to folks just getting started.
My wife is just taking up golf and is afraid to go to a golf course when there might be people around to see how bad she is. She wouldn't even go into a specialized golf shop because one store she went into the sales staff treated her so badly. Fortunately she went into another store where they were patient, helpful and enthusiastic about supporting her new found interest. You have to wonder which store is the real positive influence for golf. You'll get arguments about both. Some golfers would love it if no one else decided to take up the game and slowed down their game or acted like newbies on the course. Others realize the spread and continuation of the sport is dependent on the infusion of new players who of course will struggle to fit in early on. Our sport combines two passions, airsoft (which can get down right political in it's own right!) and reeancting which has a terrible reputation for snobbery. I would hope as many of us as possible took on the attitude like the second shop my wife visited as we can't afford to drive off interested parties at this stage in our development. Remember when we talk about "Bad Impressions" there's a double entendre there!
