I have a repro Lost Battalions style m35 helmet. I put the chinstraps over the rim, like how the leather chinstrap goes over the m1 helmet. I am afraid that the helmet liner will snap. It seems great quality but I am just kinda scared. Help??

Keep in mind, that having the leather chin strap placed over the helmet's front bill was considered a big "no-no" in the German WarMachine. Having the wonderful opportunity to chat with several ex-"SS" soldatan, here in New Orleans, they all expressed how wearing the uniform properly (including the chin-strap under the chin only) was most certainly enforced. Although several soldatan rolled up their sleeves in the hot, Summer months on their tunics, this was an exception that some (sometimes none) of the squad leaders allowed. Yes, there may be several photos showing the chin strap up and around the bill, you could almost bet your ass that the soldat was repremanded before the day was over.
