Hey guys,
I received my ICS M1 Garand from Airsoft GI yesterday. The gun is beautiful, but it has a couple problems. I ran into these problems. - Every 1st shot no bbs are discharged but 2nd shot and afterwards shoots fine - sometimes runs itself into full auto (3-7 round bursts) - The Mags are supposed to shoot 42 rounds? Mine shoots like 30 per mag
Ive put around 400 rounds through it using a 9.6v battery and fired the ICS bbs it came with and .25 madbull bio bbs.
Im most likely gonna return it unless there is an easy solution to this.

The 30 round mags are normal. Don't know about the others, sorry.

Initially my first shots were " no joy" but this went away on its own and never returned. I have never had anything but consistent single shots and I am well over 10,000 shots into it. the mags definitely are a 30 round proposition and I have 10 of the clips which all function at 30 to 32 rounds. I never did figure out how they came up with 42 or why they continue to advertise it.
The full auto is a puzzlement as there is no selector switch and its equipped with a mossfet to insure your wires don't solder from rapid and prolonged use. With the full auto trend I would definitely suggest you return it for an exchange. I continue to be delighted with mine and still consider it my favorite ll time airsoft gun.

I agree it sounds like a MOSFET problem. If you can, try to send it back for a new one. If not, you could always just get a new MOSFET and put it in yourself

I am confident it is a simple fix but that doesn't excuse the fact that it shouldn't require one. Hopefully the retailer will be cooperative.

Odds are when you bring it into AirsoftGi, if they have a tech handy they can swap out the Mossfet and get it quicky squared away. Patrick, so yours gets hot and starts a fire? Yikes! I had an AirsoftClub M14 that did that once. It was a simple kink in the wire amd since I had removed the fuse (typically not a great idea) it started smoking like crazy and scared the beegeebers out of me.
I run my ICS on an 8.4 or 9.6 battery and they drive it just fine.

What voltage does your battery have, Patrick? If you're using a 11.1v lipo then there's your problem. Not even a mosfet can hold back that much juice. If that's the case try using a 7.4v lipo or if you're using Nimh batteries, try a 9.6v.

The lipo batteries generate more juice given their stated voltage and greater juice increases your rate of fire not your FPS as somepeople believe. Too high of a voltage puts stress on the gearbox, connections and wiring so you need to be sure and stay within the prescribed tolerances. Too little juice and you don't drive the motor or do so with Guy on a short bused power (this can be probematic). Too high of a voltage output and the motor pushes the gearbox to a speed beyond its designed tolerances. This may have nothing to do with your symptoms or it may simply be that there is a kink it a wire or bad connection. As stated I think the fault lies in your mossfet. Hopefully it will quivkly get resolved and your rifle will either be replaced or quickly repaired.
Still loving mine and thnk goodness it is still trouble free.

My opinion, you should bring it back to airsoft gi, because I have to get new internals for mine to stop smoking/setting on fire. I looked on forums and the biggest and most popular problem is it smoking and shooting full auto. Unfortunately I was to late to return it so i'm stuck with it paying 100$ for new internals.
