Hello, I have some questions about Afrika Korps stuff. I've finally decided on this impression, and want to know some good places to get stuff. For a bare minimum basic impression for an Obergefreiter in the Afrika Korps I figure I need...
Afrika Korps Field Cap (I was thinking Hiki shop) Afrika Korps Tunic (Hiki Shop) Afrika Korps Pants (Hiki Shop) Bread Bag (Hiki) Belt, and Buckle (Hessen Antique) Rank Insignia (Hessen I plan on using Modern desert boots with the pants over them until I can acquire some DAK boots. Any suggestions on uniform, or in general will be greatly accepted.
Thanks in advance.

The Hiki DAK tunics look passable at a distance for a 10'+ impression. It looks as if Hiki was going for a 1st model tropical tunic which was based on the wool M40 model worn on the continent. I dunno if the pockets are "correct". The flaps look sorta scalloped, but maybe not. Hard to tell. The 2nd and 3rd model tropical(as collectors call them) didn't have the pleats on pockets IIRC. With Hiki you get what you pay for and maybe a bit more. Greatfor a grab-bag impression. Their stuff is good enough even if some obvious and arguably unimportant details are missing.
As for boots, if you plan to get any period repro's might just be best to get the brown leather low-boots as they were worn in North Africa. The tropical boots look spiffy but in a colonial sort of way buy they certainly look uncomfortable, especially those high lace up tropical boots.

A lot of Germans hated the high lace up boots, so the would wear low boots. I agree with shifts up about low boots.

When issued the high boots, soldiers would cut them down or have a tailor do it for them. rarely actually wore the high boots.

Just a thought for a relatively low cost close enough for airsoft temporary expedient. Find an old pair of jungle boots where the green fabric has faded. Dye the leather the right shade of brown. Get the ones with the small lug Vibram type sole, not the large lug Panama sole. From a distance they might pass as cut down high boots.
