If you would rather, I have m14 midcaps that are crap if you fully load them, but if you only load them with 20-30 they feed fine. You could cut them down to the proper length, and mod them to only accept 30 rnds

I haven't done much lately with this because I've been thinking heavily about it, I have my doubts....
Personally, I'm not liking the way this is turning out. I thought the M14 gearbox and internals would fit a lot better than. I now think the others are on the right track by using the M14 stock as a base, and modding from there. Even if it doesn't have that Mauser style stock
I might close this project and try to reconstruct the Kar98's stock and do a springer conversion.
Whatever my decision becomes, I hope this inspired others and hopefully someone who is better at modding can take this path and make it work a lot better than mine. At least, it will tell others what not to do. To anyone who wanted to see this finished, I'm sorry. I think ambition got to me on this one.

Your candor is much appreciated. Usually with these projects folks get frustrated and simply stop posting. You no doubt still have the M14 stock and i think will find it easier to work with. This is a great heads up to others that these projects always seem easier in your head than in your workshop.

Well, I don't have the M14 stock anymore since I used that for a M1912 Trench Gun. BUT, I have the gearbox still. So, I can upgrade it for whatever next M14 based conversion I do, and just drop it in, or at least just have it for back up.
Either way, I learned a lot from this conversion, but I don't know if I am going to take on a big conversion like this again. At least not for awhile.

So, I guess this is my official word....
I'm closing this project. I learned a lot from it, but things like this take the trial and error approach for me, and I didn't see how bad it was it coming out until near the end.
Thanks for the support.
Now, I'm just going to rebuild the Kar98 stock and get it ready for a springer conversion, and keep the VerVII gearbox as back up and parts for an eventual M14>M1 Garand conversion.
