So I just tested out my 1903's range in the forest while I was up north. imgur.com/GnN37qd These were the results out of 5 shots at just about 60 yards (not feet). I think its good penetration for an Airsoft gun and pretty accurate as well. What are the ranges on your guns?

This is a great thread as it will force people to test their guns, in essence do some training, get a sense of their capability (and limitations) and help outsiders get a sense for how our guns perform. As a standard I like to use a tin pie plate or 12 inch metal sphere. It pings when you get a solid hit and saves all the walking back and forth!
i find if I can consistently register hits loud enough for me to hear it represents a range I 'm likely to be able to hit a guy in decent cover (1/3rd of him exposed) And know he was hit. With airsoft guns the trajectory is very bizarre. Once inertian is lost a seemingly strong moving BB suddenly almost drops out of the sky. when your range is reached your Bb just dies. Knowing how far out that is, is critical for a well trained airsofter. Weight of BB, lack of wind, even humidity effects this as does of course the spring used, tightness of the barrel and quality of your BBs. I will be curious to see what people share. to keep this informative please share particulars on what you are shooting and what gram BBs you are using.

I was actually using .2's for this test so I could probably hit even farther out with .25's. The only thing upgraded is the piston and spring. Probably with .25's I could hit out to 100 yards accurately

.25s in most guns will produce greater range and being heavier are less impacted by wind and brush. 90 meters is about the limits an upgraded AIRSOFT gun is going to function at (in my experience) while still within the realm of a safe gun to be shooting at other people. Most are going to be well below that range. This should prove to be an excellent and informative thread if we keep it on ACTUAL results NOT conjecture as you did SCOTTCOLLINS. Thanks for starting the thread.

Alright. I'll be sure to actually test it when I get some .25's.
