I know, I know, I should do more research before I post these questions but AXIS stuff is new to me and the resources show a wide assortment of looks and I'd like to know what would be correct. For the German Y straps and belt I am assuming black is the correct color? were there other possibilities here? Were they ALWAYS leather?
for canteens it seems a brown felt with black cup and black leather is what I mostly see. For Bread bags and canvas pouches I have seen, Grey, khaki, and even blue, what gives with that? Also gaiters are available in a grey nd an OD color, For Kar 98 poiches I have seen both brown and black? Once again what gives?
thanks.

Not an expert, but from what I've read the Luftwaffe kinda a confused things with their field divisions wearing brown leather gear. I believe they also had bluish bread bags. Webbing Y-straps and belts were used in North Africa and the Mediterranean because of the dry climate. Late war some would have shown up in Northern Europe.

Ok, heres a basic answer to a complex issue.
Heer/SS- Black leather straps, belt, and pouches LW- brown ystraps, belt, and pouches Trop- Leathe rpouches, khaki webbed straps and belt
However, for Heer and SS, its not uncommon to see trop straps being used (I do) and sometimes even LW brown pouches.

Breadbags vary in color. But tend to be an OD color
