I am home from the road for a decently prolonged period and have been going through my odds and ends figuring out projects to clean up and get done. I have a bunch of Garand stocks and a large assortment of Garand bits and pieces which would enable me to fabricate perhaps four or five M1 Garand dummy guns. These would be 1:1 scale about seven pounds each (you can easily add weight if you need them to weigh the full 9 1/2 pounds). They will be all wood and metal and will be deliberately made to look like field used WW2 weapons.
I have produced and sold a couple dozen of these in the past and they always bring $165.00 to $200.00 on Ebay. (Sometimes even more). They are very solid, have functional sling hardware, lots of actual parts (and fabricated parts). They are great for static displays, photographs, field props, film work and drill purposes. I expect to have them done within a week and will sell them to our members for $165.00 shipped here in the continental US. I doubt one could build one from parts for that?
I will post pictures upon completion but if you'd like pictures of previous builds just PM me for photos. (give me your direct email address)
Any that don't presell I will paint the barrel orange and sell on Evil Pay! I would rate these much much nicer then the resin props (at less money) and comporable to the Denix Replicas but with actual components and the cool field aging. Bayonets will fit.

If I could, I would. Oddly enough, under Connecticut's arcane gun laws, airsoft replicas are legal, but non-firing dummy guns are not.

Just wondering, any thought of selling kits of M1 Garand parts for CYMA M14 conversions?

i have done that a lot in the past but these are parts that are left over and need to either be used for something or thrown out. Preparing them for use in an airsoft conversion would be too labor intense to do and the simple and quickest project is combining what I have and creating non guns. Still a lot of work mind you but not nearly what it would be to inlet the stocks and components for airsoft use or list, sell and ship all the parts individually (which would be the most lucrative way to go. If I had the time). Also not as much fun or likely to use up all the loose stuff.
I was saddened by how few of my sold kits ever ended up being finished as all the hard work was done and it should have been at most a weekend deal. I got back some great pictures of folks finished kits and that made me very happy but easily 60% of them to my knowledge never got done. Perhaps some of those kits could come up for sale.
I think they sold for $165.00 ? I am working on inletting a couple of actual Garand stocks and may end up replacing my fully modified plastic stocks with them. If so I will have some M14 stocks as take offs that will be fully finished as Garands. (shortened, reshaped, redone butt plate and cosmetically refinished). I might sell them which would be a super head start on an M14 conversion.

I had a couple questions about what I would sell the fully modified lower stocks for. given that the take off stocks bring $25.00 without modification and the time involved in shortening them, redoing the butt plate, repositioning the sling hardware, adding the augmentation reshape and then all the shaping, sanding and cosmetic detailing I would need to get $65.00 for a fully modified and stained Garand stock. (m14 conversion)

i also had questions about what I would charge to modify the key Garand components. the modifications needed for the gas assembly and handguards are truthfully fairly minimal but acquiring the parts themselves can be frustrating and expensive so its really not something I want to pursue. As for my assorted bits and pieces the main reason for making these dummy non guns is to use up a half dozen take off receiver groups from MGs I made and to use up some split and worn hand guards that will work fine when resin pasted onto a solid center rod but not adequately on a functioning conversion.
I tried to figure out the best way to re purpose what I had and dummy non guns is the best solution for me at this point. I am doing up a bunch of them as we speak and got a nice jump on a batch of them today. I probably could get more for the actual parts such as they are on ebay without doing any work and just throw out the items that on their own really have no market but it just seemed wasteful. i enjoy doing these up truth be told.
Non guns are funny as some events will only allow them. Federal Park displays for instance while in other locals they are less legal than actul firearms. Very bizarre.

So I am in the final stages of completing four M1 Garand dummys and two M14s. The build process has taken me longer than I had anticipated. One of the M14s is sold and two of the Dummy Garands are sold. These will go out not later than Weds. i am very pleased with the way they came out and know the buyers will be pleased.
I hope to have two take off fully modified M14 to M1 modified stocks available for sale as I am replacing them with fully inletted actual stocks which have been a ton of work but (hopefully) will work and will be nice enhancements. These take off stocks would be a wonderful headstart on an M14 to M1 conversion as they are appropriately shortened, have had the Garand shape augmentation blended in and the butt stock area modified and are finished off nicely in a convincing dark walnut pseudo finish. They have sling hardware in place and would include full step by step instructions for the complete conversion project although you'll see all the steps that these finished stocks would eliminate. Each stock and project guide is $65.00 plus 10.00 shipping in the US. these take off lower stocks are no longer available.

Today is my favorite part of any of these projects and that is the final cosmetic work. I peeled off the masking tape from the stocks and wood having just finished painting all the metal bits in a variety of assorted finishes. Some simulate fresh parkerization while others show field wear. Once all the tape is removed I always arvel at how cool they look. In this case very little last second detail work is needed so I will ship those that are sold on Monday and should have the others all done by Monday.
If you are interested and would like pictures of these specific non guns just PM me with your direct email and I will send multiple pictures. I have several Garands and one AXIS Mauser type rifle non gun that used was I think was a CZ stock. it looks very good and of course the bolt cycles and actual sling hardware is all there. All are rock solid and quite convincing even up close.
You couldn't come close to buying the components needed to build these for the $165.00 each I am selling them for.

I have one Dummy Garand left and one M14 non gun. The rest sold and have been shipped. I was thrilled with the way they came out. The Dummy M14s interestingly bring more money on EBAY than the M1Garands and actually cost me less to make. Either way they use up my Receiver Groups and assorted left over bits a pieces so unless demand is there for a few more M1 Garand dummys that is what I will build out. (M14s). I suppose the sale price differentiation is because there is no Denix M14 hence a void in the Market.
The Dummy Rifles are extremely credible even when held. PM me if you want good close up pictures of these non guns. I will need your direct email.

Just got back from my latest trip and while gone the remaining M14 sold and will go out tomorrow. That leaves the one M1 Garand dummy and it is ready to go if someone wants it. It really looks and feels fabulous and is an excellent, inert prop. It is available to our members for $150.00 SHIPPED! If you live in the continental US. This is way way less than they traditionally bring on EBAY and well below the DENIX replicas inspite of using many ACTUAL parts.

The CZ Mauser variant sold but the M1 Garand prop rifle is still available. I will sell this 1:1 all wood and metal prop gun for $150.00 plus shipping. It is perfect for static display, film work (even close up work) drill or photograph work.
Ten times nicer than the SPR resin prop rifles or poor quality parade Garands at way less cost

This replica M1 Garand is sold but I have parts to make more if anyone is interested. Would include the sling hardware but no sling and without the enblock clip. For most of these I add considerable metal weights throughout for credible feel but I could also just as easily leave out the weight if the buyer prefers a significantly lighter weapon. With the weights they weigh in right a nine pounds, without they weigh about four pounds.

Just completed two more of these Dummy Garands they came out great. $165.00 each for anyone interested.
I still have on hand some more of the key components needed to make your own and could sell a batch of those components for someone wanting to make their own from scratch. Here's what the package would include: The take off M14 Receiver group and bolt, charging handle and connecting rod channel, connecting rod spring and spring guide. the M14 take off butt plate. The lower (thin) handguard and assorted bits of tubing, sling hardware & misc bits that will save you some running around.
This parts package is $35.00 plus shipping. Separately sold on EBay the charging handle alone would bring nearly that much! To finish the project you'll need a derelict old Garand stock, and upper handguard a few misc bits, some resin paste and some time
For this project I typically use a cut down cue stick from a Thrift shop or a long metal rod for my Garand Barrel and as means to line everything up and hold everything together. If you source a cheap M1 Garand stock and handguard this can be an inexpensive way to have a nice replica. Or, you can buy a fully finished one from me and save yourself some time!

One Dummy Replica Garand left (not the specific one shown as it sold long ago) but just like it. PM me for pictures of the specific gun on hand and I will multiple, clear pictures from every angle. I also have a replica FN Fal assembled and ready to ship.

I have built two more of these and they are both available for sale. Many original M1 Garand components, real wood parts. The legitimate aging gives them authentic character you'd have to artificially create on a Denix replica and these are less money! These will probably be the last ones I make as they are just too expensive in component costs and production time.

This one remaining prop all wood and metal M1 Garand is still available I just realized! Thee exact one shown sitting on the Jeep hood. The wood components are take off actual parts along with much of the hardware. At $150 it would include the sling, and a couple enblock clips with dummy rounds. That is about what the production materials cost were? In my opinion much cooler than the Denix Replicas as the wood is well...Obviously more correct and the patina adds personality and authenticity. These are great for film work, static display and for locations where actual firearms aren't authorized.

I said I wasn't going to make any more of these but managed to find a batch of nice Garand Walnut stocks, handguards and gas assemblies and had some more left over cut down receiver groups so I fabricated five more of them. Mass production cuts down build time which is still considerable. I sold two on EBAY but got thrown off eBay (temporarily) as in my last relist I forgot to restrict it's overseas availability. (An EBAY requirement for anything even remotely gun related). God I HATE eBay. I have sold 700+ items through them so I guess I should look at the positives.
Since there would be know eBay fees and no draconian bovine scatological nonsense I would sell these M1 Garand, all wood and metal replicas with a GI sling and one fake enblock clip for $125.00 plus $25.00 shipping here in the US. These are cooler (in my opinion) than the Denix replicas for way less money. Perfect for static display, parade work or film (even close up) way way better than the resin props and priced about the same.
I have three to choose from currently. These often bidded up on eBay to $200.00.
