Okay so far ive found three kar98's that are for sale and available.
Dboys shell ejecting - no. Matrix/redfire gas - good price at 280 i believe they are the same gun. 450 fps G&G - gas $450 with 450-500 fps
Does anyone have an opinion on these? Are they worth it? Will i have the advantages that a rifle would have vs a smg in real life with either of these?
I mean if ima get the G&G i might as well buy the new mg42 lol

The matrix isn't the same but it is similar. It's cheaper then the g&g and from the few reports of the red fire i heard, it's not too bad

Or you could always do or buy a DBoys/Bar10 hybrid build. FPS varies with the spring, but they look great (when well done) and provide all-weather reliability. Of course they have their own drawbacks, but it's worth keeping in consideration.

If you live up north and gets cold enough to mess with your green gas/co2 guns and you have the time/skills to dedicate to making a bar10, you'd be better off with that probably.

For the price of even the Redfire and Matrix ones, you can buy both the DBoys one and a JG BAR-10 and do the mod yourself to save some money, or you can use that much to buy one of the finely crafted conversions that are sold here by members of this forum.

I'd recomend the Red Fire one. That's called PPS for us non-US guys and is a fantastic rifle. It even has variable FPS!

This is a great discussion and one I have wondered about myself. Thus far we just haven't seen too many first hand accounts or head to head comparisons. A bolt action rifle whether real or airsoft is always going to fall short vs a semi auto or full auto weapon but for the sake of realism and authenticity it is great seeing their acceptance and popularity at WW2 events. They add a ton to the ambiance and gameplay.

A lot of the prices are really variable. Sure thats how they are if you like the buy new, but I've gotten plenty of airsoft stuff at insane prices because I lurk around a crap ton of online market places. That's if you don't mind buying used, though. But when you can find a base springer for $60 bucks, shipped, because the seller needs cash or just wants it gone, its not bad at all.
Speaking of which...
Later today, I'm supposed to seal a deal for a G&G Kar98, full package, even with scope for insanely cheaper price. If this goes through, I'll run some tests and let everyone know if its worth all that money. At most, I can only compare it to a springer Kar98, as I don't have the Redfire. I might be in the market for the Redfire/Matrix one as well, but I'll have to see how other airsoft sales go first.
