I found this bolt handle at Gun Parts Company (formerly Numrich). I picked up a couple. They're cheap. They seem usable for replacing the oddball bolt handles that come on BAR10s and VSR10s. The ring on the end is just the right diameter for the JG VSR10 cylinder. It's smaller than the JG BAR10 cylinder. The hole is larger than the shaft at the end of the cylinder. I made a bushing from a piece of 1/2 inch copper pipe. It took a little sanding down of the shaft to make it fit. I used a piece the outer barrel from the VSR10 JB Welded onto the ring of one to increase the diameter for the BAR10. It's actually too wide, so it needs to be sanded down. The ring on the bolt is too wide front to rear, so that as to be cut down. Basically you just need to make it match the dimensions of the original bolt handle. Both rifles have a spring loaded plunder that holds the cylinder in place when the bolt is closed. The bolt handle has a cut that allows the plunger to rise when the bolt handle is turned down, and depresses the plunger when the handle is turned up. The notch has to be cut into the new bolt handle. Also, there's two dimples on the back side of the ring that a spring loaded plunger in the tailpiece uses to keep the bolt handle from flopping around. The bolt handle on my Mosin project.

With the straight bolt handle, this would be awesome on a VZ-24 build. VZ 24 stocks and hardware are cheap and easily available, and for an SS impression it would be just as good or better than a 98K.
If I was using this on a 98K build, I would definitely bend it. I've never done it, but I imagine with some heat sink, a decent torch, and a vise, it should be an easy mod. At eight bucks it's not a big risk if you mess it up either.
Thanks for the info!

While it might be too long for this, it looks pretty good to use for Mosin Nagant conversions.

My other never-ending project is a VZ24. It was sitting wile I figured out what to do with the bolt handle. I was thinking the same for a Kar98.
