I recently aquired a 249 in a trade and I was curious of you guys opinion. Should I use it for a stand in for an MG? It looks nothing like one but an MG is also 1500-2000. Would I be able to use one up at a Chicago event? I have other things I can use it for and will probally use it down here in our events but was just curious as I have other business in the great state of IL next year and will try and coincide my trip with a game you guys are having.

Well the title says "M249 used instead of an MG42". I'm no genious but I bet he's going as a Kraut.

Not to get off topic, but he could have an MG42 and still be allied. I have a thompson and I'm axis...Chicago land games are pretty layed back about the gun rules.
About the substitution of the M249 to the MG42, it would be fine. At the October 7th game the MGer was Josh with a G3 (worked prety good too)

I beleive you have a thompson because you're Italian and they don't make Italian weapons, correct? Same thing with Krauts, I can see a thompson then as well. Now, if I were going to go GI, why would I spend MORE money to get an Mg42 that "kinda sorta works" for the impression, instead of spending less on a more accurate Thompson(Not refering to you Dan, understand you got the 249 through a trade.)??

WA makes an M34 Beretta But I do see what you are saying. I was just putting the point across that if he has a gun (or substitute in this case) it doesn't matter which side he is on, he is welcome to use it on either side.

But, it is preferable that we keep some accuracy. I mean, I don't wanna see a buncha spray-n-pray, camo clad modern airsofters runnin amoke around the Krauts, or an AK-47 in the hands of the allied medic. Try to keep to accurate materials.

I agree with Russian. I don't see us opening up the games to modern guys here in the midwest any time soon. They have a different (paintball) mentality to this hobby. Historical accuracy is not even in their dictionaries. Just light em up and smoke everyone!

I was thinking we could use it in a scenario as an objective "go take the MG nest" or something not as a run all over the field kinda thing. I have other guns to use I just wanted to know should I bring it or save the trunk space

We would definitly want it, the MG usualy stays inside a bunker, not toted around the field....usualy...

You know dan every event weve had so far weve had a scenario where the hidden MG nest was gaurding the minefield and would mow down any allies that cam across it. So your gun be perfect for it.

Well I am heading up to IL with the family either in spring or summer of the next year. I will try and time it with one of your events so I can get some airsofting in up there with you guys.
