Hello, First I'd like to say I am new to the forum and apologize if this post is in the wrong area or has broken any forum rules, I would also like to say I'm sorry if there are any grammatical or spelling mistakes, I am a history major not a English major. Now down to business. You may have to copy and paste the link in your URL I'm still trying to figure out how to upload photos and what not.

After much eager anticipation for the King Arms M1 carbine, and M1 carbines be either non-exsiant or unskrimishable in the airsoft community, I took it upon myself to create my own. I decided to use the KJW kc02 as my base gun. After some research I learned about RA-Tech's M1 carbine kit but I wanted something a bit more personal as well as challenging. A buddy of mine had a CYMA spring M1 carbine that he donated to the cause. After some hard work I have, in my opinion, a pretty good looking and above all skrimishable M1 carbine. I am aware that the sling isn't period correct, I ordered the period correct sling and oiler, I constructed the sling out of a VN era Alice pack strap and buckles and the oiler out of a aluminum pen. The rear sight is also not accurate and I have ordered a replacement as well. The black gaffers tape is need to help keep the body in place and the hand guard as well.
I am open to suggestion to better this build and criticism is welcome.
Thanks for your time

That's a great looking conversion. There has to be a better solution than that tape, I'd love to see details of the areas in question, both with the stock/receiver/handguard together and disassembled to work out some answers.
BTW, what are those KJW internals like? Would this work as an M1A1?

The KJW is a replica of a ruger 10/22 do it is semi only and runs off of co2 or green gas. From my M1 carbine experience both real steel and airsoft this conversion is pretty dang close function wise (in my opinion). As for the tape I just pass it off as like it for "grip" until I find a better solution.

Hey new member here! I have a KC02 as well and was hoping to do the same. Any advice/recommendations on the process?

I am assuming the green gas/ CO2 is contained in the magazine? I know with gas guns there are myriad conditions that effect performance but what thus far would you say is your typical FPS and how many rounds per magazine? i assuming since its not gas blow back it is far more reliable than the Marushins. I am confused as to why the need for the tape? Surely there must be some more elegant solution than that? The magazine size of course is distracting but probably not terribly in the field.
Thank you for sharing and for another clever opportunity to fill a weapon vacancy. I have heard good things about the KJW gas guns.

The KC02 is blowback. However, the bolt is one big block of metal with no thin parts to snap like on Marushin models. I've never heard of one breaking. They also have many available upgrades. joker23, that is a very nice conversion.

I agree with 2nd Bat, I think if you show the members here how all those parts fit together, you will get a flurry of ideas that might work better than the tape.
I don't find the mag distracting, it's slightly long but at least it's straight (unlike the CYMA springer mags). I might be interested in doing one of these as an M1A1, if it can be done.

I kind of always wanted to do this myself, but never had the funds to do it...nor the skill... However, the KCO2 is a pretty popular gun in the airsoft world. I haven't heard a single bad thing about them. Good to see someone did this.
And you can do a M1A1 version with this. The action doesn't got back behind the trigger much. Its mostly forward of the trigger. I've seen these with all different types of modern day tactical stocks.

I will try to post some pictures of the areas in question in the next few days. I appreciate the offers of help. In regards to some of 2nd Bat's questions, there are two different versions of magazine. The co2 version has a allen key cap in the base where a 12gram cartridge is stored, and Green gas version has a fill valve. I personally use the co2 version magazines and I couldn't be happy with the performance. I m getting about 2-3 magazines worth of gas from 1 co2 cartridge compared to the 1-2 magazine worth of green gas. The noticed the co2 magazines had better consistency in FPS and worked better in cold weather. Each magazine holds 30 rounds plus one in the chamber and for those who may be curious, They fit the M1 rigger pouches from at the front.

Thanks Joker. I'll look for the updated pictures and hopefully can provide some thoughts. Since a different body (from the CYMA carbine) is being used you might be able to attach something like a brace or even a blob of resin paste that will fit things more snugly in the stock and then a couple unabtrusive set screws through the stock base into your brace or resin blob and next thing you know...no tape.
I am trying to figure out the tape on the stock neck and just can't?
An M1A1 would be nice. I still hold hope that a CZ scorpian can be married up but am struggling with the marriage and magazine redesign.

2nd Bat,
On the CYMA M1 there is a small notch for the top hand guard to fit into the end of the bolt assembly, the kc02 does no have that so the tape holds it in place. I am thinking about screwing it down.

The KJ 10/22 is a excellent gun, from what people tell me it is the most accurate gbb out there.
Ra tech did make a kit for the 10/22 to turn it into a M1 but I think for the price it did not look as good as this. But I like this idea, as I also really want a m1 carbine that I can really skirmish with.

Kiwi432, I can say from personal experience if you are looking for a affordable, skirmishable M1 i would recommend this
