Anyone know of what the best place is to get German repro jackboots? I mean I don't mean ones that are like 300+ dollars or anything... just something that would work and not fall apart any time soon. Also I am confused, do you insert feet pads in them? Like modern inserts just for the sake of comfort?

It depends on how into "reenacting"you are. For most people anything that increases comfort that doesn't show is just common sense. jack boots would adapt to the wearer through use and exposure to the elements. This is a rigorous and time consuming process. most of us aren't going to do several 20 mile road marches to condition our boots for the occassional airsoft battle so inserts are a reasonable alternative.
i have found two pair of German made reproduction jack boots at a thrift shop and at a flea market. (several years of browsing). The most I paid was $12.00. I have also found assorted sizes of credible rough outs that with reproduction German spats look quite decent. With some effort, patience and obviously some level of compromise this hobby can be fairly affordable.

Im looking for repro German jack boots myself. That's crazy that you only paid $12! I found a site that sells reproductions for $160 new and I thought I found a good deal. Once I get home from school I will check my flea market and see if I get lucky.

Luck and persistence is the order of the day on these ventures. When home from business trips I have lots lots of leisure time so I swing by the five closest thrift shops two or even three days a week. One in ten to fifteen visits produce some sort of "treasure". I probably waste more gas than I save but I feel like I am rescuing history!

German jack boots and cheap or decent priced usually don't go together in the same sentence, unfortunately. Just nature of the b e a s t.
You next best options are being keep your eyes glued on online marketplaces and B/S/T groups, and get lucky by finding East German jack boots or just used jack boots for good price.
I found my main pair, early war tall style repros, for $130 on one of those B/S/T FB groups, great condition, too.
