This thread is to post your "Hey Looks Great!" or "Where are your Enlisted Men?" comments from the Axis "Stitch Knot-See" thread.
So to be clear- I do not want to see any[/u] pictures in this thread, and likewise, don't let me see any more bla bla bla in the picture[/b] threads please.

Wow love the Jap impression very nice, good to see some variety, for a weapon what do you use, do you use a KAR or something and do you use that impression for airsofting.

TG~Before someone gets offended...Japanese really seem to hate being called Jap. I think it is perfectly suitable to do so at a PTO Event much like calling the Germans Krauts. I dunno G4B may not care, hell he may not be Japanese. Now carry on Honkey.

I must admit I am a little uncomfortable with such casual pajoritives though clearly they were cavalierly used and commonplace at the time even finding themselves in Disney cartoons. It might be worth stating somewhere that you are using the terms for historical context only and that they are not used with the intent to offend.
Maybe I'm being too PC here. I used it on another board with no malicious intent at all and discovered that it was somehow not as acceptable as Kraut, Limey or Wop. People I respect were sincerely offended. My argument of a double standard since the pajoritives for non minorities was apparently okay didn't carry much weight and I couldn't see why?
Hmmm I guess the fact that we didn't inter Eisenhower or Sinatra because they were American citizens representing nationalities we were at war with even though we interred Japanese Americans all the way down to 1/8th Japanese (literally defying everything written in the constitution for purely racist reasons) might have something to do with heightened sensitivities.
I got an earful on that and though intially I didn't agree with the issue or feel it was appropriate to worry about (Given the historical basis of our hobby and what I knew to be my intent) I have since reconsidered.

I dunno G4B may not care, hell he may not be Japanese. Now carry on Honkey. Thanks Dan. It is a bit of a sore spot for Japanese-Americans (which I am). It was used often, almost as a racial slur during the war years. The Pacific War was first and foremost a race war with both sides portraying the other through propaganda as subhuman, creating some of the more abhorent incidents of WWII. Unfortunately for Japanese already living in the US, the hate spilled over. My Grandmother remembers going to a theater right after Pearl Harbor with her employer, and someone asking her boss, "What the hell are you doing with that dirty Jap?". Even though she was born here and had never been to Japan in her life, she was no longer an American, but "a dirty Jap". I don't mind that word being used at events or anything, because it's perfectly period, but in 2007 I think it's something that's a bit more suitable for its time. I haven't really said anything up until now, because I didn't want to raise a ruckus just over myself, but I guess other's like AADan care too, so I just thought I'd put it out there. Perhaps an easy alternative is "JPN" same meaning and still 3 letters, or "IJA" - Imperial Japanese Army.

I mentioned it because I have flubbed up and said something similar that offended someone...I hadn't even given it a second thought till they mentioned it....Now I notice things like that. I am sure TG meant no harm, but I thought maybe someone should point it out to him.

Back on the subject at hand. G4B I am extremely impressed with the detail of your uniforms (442nd and IJA) The effects of the night pictures are especially powerful Great job. I think I know Tommy Gunner well enough to know there was no malicious intent.
The putees hat and subtle touches set the uniform off extremely well. Looks great.

Yes, I'm not singling anyone out, just putting it out there for everyone. TG - I just got my IJA kit, and plan to use it at games, but we don't really have any ww2 games out here is CA (yet), and the normal field I play at has switched to a standardized woodland uniform for everyone *sigh so uninspired (can't use my GI kit there anymore). But yes, I plan on using it at other games, and until the Tanaka Type 99 comes out, I want to convert my Thompson over to the 1928 and use that as a "captured weapon". Like so: ...or I'll just run after you with a big arse saw lol .

Sorry about that, things like that kinda slip out, I talk to my friend Joe Levato who was a Marine in WW2 alot and him and I carry on conversations so I guess it rubbed off, and you guys are right thing slike that done belong n the boards and only belong in reenactments where in its hostorical context (again meaning nothign my it though)Ill make shure not to do that next time ;D
Thats awsome, but the problem with the 1928 idea is that they have stopped production (or so I have heard) and the supply has run dry, I got one of the few left.
Cant wait for the type 99 though

I love the look of the attached foliage as seen in your awesome photo. This was common by the Japanese, Chicoms in Korea and NVA/ VC in Vietnam. It is a cool look and I highly encourage it when our OPFOR is set up for big games. I recommed you buy fake plastic and silk plants at Hobby and Craft shops and permanently attach them to your ruck and web gear so your impression is all set to go everytime. In addition to looking badass it's very functional camouflage as well. When you lay down you become very, very hard to spot.

Fantastic impression you have there G4B, the plastic leaf thing sticking out of ur helmet netting and webbing straps would look pretty good. may need to change it for urban though, unless you can find a window box to hide in Click matey, the weapon is a type 11 LMG maybe you guys could start a caption competition for some photos, cus i don't know about you, but it looks like he is saying "my my, thats a nice type 11 you have there private, its making me excited, may i touch you're boobies?"

Honestly, I wouldnt call it "stitch nazi" material... 1. Wrong splinter on the jump smock, thats Splinter A not splinter B. Splinter A appears on zeltbahns, and smocks used by Heer and SS. Splinter B is used exclusively by the Luftwaffe, and is used on jump smocks, ground division smocks, and helmet covers. Heres the difference between the two: As you can tell, splinter B is much more geometric, and the shapes are smaller. 2. Knee pads were never used after the jump, they were discarded as soon as they hit the drop zone. 3. It looks like you are going for a mid-late war impression...by then double ducal helmets were extremely rare...it would look so much better if you painted up the helmet. 4. Are those toe caps I see on those boots? FJ jump boots did not have toe caps on them. I would also ditch the mess tin and zeltbahn, both were items that were not really carried by FJ.

Not yet lawl.
Most of it is nitpicking, but the things that really bug me is the knee pads and the jump smock. Barry Lyndon (spearhead militaria) produces a splinter B jump smock for a very good price ($109 shipped).

Also the knee pads are the wrong color. But other than that, you look like Eagle From The Sky.
