FJ MP40 Pouch - which one?

Hello everyone,

I'm sat here waiting for my latest orders to arrive. I'm trying to put together 2 FJ impressions.

I currently own a Type2 Green FJ smock, Type3 Splinter FJ Smock, Repro FJ Helmet, M43 LW cap, LW NCO Peaked cap, WGCShop Custom MP40, 6 mags and a tanaka P08 4 inch pistol.

So at least I have a few things already.

Ordered goods are - belt/buckle,FJ trousers(pants for you US guys lol), LW Fliegerblouse(Enlisted Mans), FJ gas mask holder(using this for spare bb's etc) Insignia, couple of stick grenades and some other stuff.

My Girlfriend will freek and the cost but hey - it's my hobby.

Ok to the thread heading question - which MP40 ammo pouch(s) should i get? I know that there are several different types, colors - my only wish is that I could use them for the early era impression and the '44 impression.

Any help very much appreciated

The field gear of a soldier equipped with an MP 38 or MP 40 included two black leather triple magazine pouches holding one magazine each; later in the war they were often made of canvas. Together with the magazine in the weapon the total default ammo loadout for a fully supplied soldier therefore was 7 x 32 = 224 rounds. However, magazines were usually not fully loaded because the stress ecxerted onto the magazine spring and lips could lead to premature wear and ammo feeding jams.

I would think leather M38/40 pouches would take you from early war to late. However you may have trouble fitting your mags into some leather ones. I have noticed in pictures they look a little short. I use tropicals from 41' Crete on. but that may not make you happy.

Leather MP38/40 pouches would be ok. Airsoft MP40 mags fit in the repros I have. A blue FJMP 40 pouch will also work with or without the mag loader pouch.

Thanks for the replies guys, food for thought. I know from the pics in the reference books I have the late war impression I'm putting together will be a little easier - since equipment was a bigger mixture due to supply and demand issues.
