Inspired heavily by a build by Gryphon, I bought a $60 springer off ebay and tried converting it to a Mosin. So far I am happy with the results. I am taking progress shots and will have a more detailed post when I am finished, but here is my progress so far:

Awesome! Is the upgraded VSR trigger box compatible with the MP001? I ask because other than a very chronic slam fire issue which developed very quickly with more than half of my MP001s I was very happy with them.
Keep us posted on your efforts your progress looks very promising.

To be honest, I have no idea. I didn't really plan on upgrading this gun but I will have to look into it. Another quick update, the gun is "finished". I add quotations because from the standpoint of wanting to create a very simple gun build using minimal equipment/resources that is able to be made in a weekend, I am done. However, knowing me, I will probably keep tinkering around with this for a while until I am happy with it, especially in regards to sanding it smooth. I will try to get my progress pics organized, but for now here it is:

If the available trigger boxes can swap in when needed the MP001 is actually a very good base as it slightly smaller. They tend also to shoot a little harder out of the box than the BAR 10s and way harder than the Marui VSR. You can typically buy two for the price of one BAR 10.
