Hi,
I am wondering if anyone managed to modify the L96 bolt handle to make it look like K98. I am thinking to use a torch until it can be straighten (for a VZ24 look alike) or even bent (K98 - G24 look alike). However metallurgy is not my field. Some suggestion of what temperature I should get?
Thanks for your thoughts!

I don't know what kind of metal they use. I just tried a magnet on a VSR handle and it's obviously non-ferrous. Might be some kind of pot metal (zinc or zinc alloy). You could try it, but be careful not to get it too hot.

Yes / it's exactly pot metal.

There is an extremely high likelihood that even with heat the pot metal bolt will break with any effort to bend it. Should you decide to attempt it don't try to force anything and let us know how it goes!

With this type of metal, heating it too little will lead ot it breaking, but heat it enough to soften it and it will very quickly reach melting point and fall apart. There is no good way to heat Zamak/pot metal properly to bend it. It's brittle like iron but melts like lead

I will use hot airgun to hot , so I guess I'll broke it rather than melt.

Mate you have Bob Hope and No Hope of that bending without snapping, how ever i have been proved wrong. You could make a new bar and attatch it to the existing collar with a thread,if you can get an angle grinder,or get someone to make a part on a lathe
