Hey guys. I wanted to take a second here to address an issue that I have been receiving a few emails about. The subject of rank. The 3 major countries represented in the WW2 Airsoft Association are the United States, Germany, & Russia. And in each of those countries represented are various units (infantry, airborne, etc...).
I have had 4 emails in the last week or so asking "if I join the WW2AA, what rank will I be?" The answer...what rank would you be if you were drafted or enlisted in the army during WWII? You'd be a BUCK PRIVATE!
Considering Gordak, the guy who started the whole WW2AA plays airsoft as an SS Schutze, should tell you something. We are not rank happy in the WW2AA. Now that we are getting some new recruits in the various units, the WW2AA will be putting together a system of rank. This will eliminate all the desire to be Capt. Miller, Sgt. Horvath, or Capt. Winters. The mojority of fighting men in WWII were grunts! Dirty, field tested grunts. So take the money you were putting aside to buy 1st Sgt stripes or Capt. bars and put it in your piggy bank.
Sure you're going to see a few guys with rank in the field. Those guys will undoubtedly be WW2AA board members. I will post some suggestions on unit structure and rank for the moderators to view and we will post the results here. So if you've never played WWII airsoft and you plan on attending the September event. SHOW UP AS A BUCK PRIVATE. Especially since we will be hitting the Rockford Reenactment. They would laugh us into next week if we rolled in with a whole group of 1st Sergeants & Captains.
That is all.
