Hey everyone,
Just got an AGM MG42 cheap from a friend. I'm having a hard time figuring out how it comes apart. There's an issue with the hop unit and I can't for the life of me figure out how to get at it.
Any videos, guides or advice you could point me in the direction of?
Many thanks!

Firstly, you'll need to remove the pin at the back of the pistol grip, which holds it on, and slide it forward. It should pop free at that point. Secondly, you'll need to remove the 4 hex head screws from the sides of the receiver body that correspond with the upper gearbox body. Once those are removed, only the screw holding the hopup to the gearbox needs to be removed and then the whole upper gearbox can be lifted out. Lastly, slide the inner barrel assembly out the rear of the gun. Reverse the procedure the assemble again. Be careful to not pinch the wires upon re-assembly.

I'm having serious trouble getting the grip to seperate from the upper gearbox.. I got the c clip off and the pin out but the grip doesn't want to move and disconnect no matter which direction I push or pull..
Am I missing something? (Also took the 4 screws holding the upper gearbox in) the whole unit moved around a bit but won't seperate..

You can try to remove the hand grips and you will see a small opening. There you can insert a small screwdriver and release the antireverse and relax the spring.[ ]Than try and slide the handle towards behind until the botom clears as in that video

Hey adrg,
That was the issue. I neglected to hit the anti reversal latch.
I cycled it a few times and released the latch and they popped apart.
I take it from your knowledge of the gun that you either own one or have owned one in the past? The hop unit seems really.. non adjustable? I mean it moves but the arm barely moves at all when applying hop.
Anyone else noticed this?
Thanks for all of your help guys!

In my case the hop-up was very loose, meaning that once adjusted, it would reset itself very soon.
I actually replaced the inner barrel and hop-up bucking and noticed the following; 1. Original barrel doesn't feel like 100% AEG compatible, meaning the hop window is maybe 1-2 mm closer to the end than standard AEG. 2. The bucking is a little weired, 3. The replacement barrel with G&G green rubber is a very tight fit. I was actually struggled a lot to fit in and I am not sure if I didn't break something in the process. But the hop-up become much firm and looks like working fine (not sure for how long) 4. The original barrel in a version 2 chamber is loose.
I am consudering disasembling again and switch barrel
