Hello,
I JUST joined up today and had a question on if anyone has been able to convert a grease gun hi cap magazine to work in a MP40? I would think that they would be kinda similar, but modifications would probably have to be made.
So I apologize if this has already been brought up, but can anyone give me any light to this subject?
Many thanks!

I wouldn't bet on it. I don't have either one around at the moment, but the Greasegun was a .45 caliber and the MP40 was 9mm. The Greasegun mag is somewhat larger than the MP40. You wouldn't be able to get it inside the magwell.

I think the easiest way is to buy a SRC MP40 hicap magazibe and reverse the mag inside to fit the AGM. In case you won't find it at usual online stores, you can try to contact SRC directly. I had a positive experience with their support. Chinese hi cap mags are just too large to fit inside the MP40 magwell. And they are using the same mechanism for all of these. After intensive filling I fit an MAC 10 hi cap magazine into MP40. But the walls of mech remained very thin and also it is feeding poorly. I totaly won't advize this way.

It's amazing the difference between two different companies and how different their products are. But I like your idea on contacting the SRC company, I actually just emailed them after reading your post. I know evike is coming back out with an SRC model on their website so we'll see about how hi cap mags go. But thank you for your input!

It's ironic that your question is the reverse of what MOST of the mag conversions focus is on this site. In the technical DIY section there are many threads about converting high cap magazines into low or midcaps. For the most part our members are frustrated when a manufacturer builds a replica suitable to our time frame and only offers it in a high cap. In addition to the annoying rattle and spotty performance many high caps provide they also detract from the authenticity that changing mags provides. I think too low caps give us excuses to actually use our web gear as they were intended! The prevalence of mag limits and reduced ammo consumption is in my opinion a huge reason our style of play is more emmersive and enhances the "suspension of time travel" that we WW2 airsofters crave.
Welcome to the forum! My recommendation is source a box of MP40 low caps! And fill your pouches with mags! Learn the skills involved in seamless quick reloads, trigger control and the importance of team mutual support that comes with them. Have fun!

Hey, I've actually seen you before a lot on message boards, thanks for responding! But I know, it is ironic isn't it? And I know the authenticity of using low cap mags is better and I agree. Just like having high cap magazines as well.
