I'm trying to help my friend get a WWII German impression and we need help!!!! He has some gear and his budget is limited, but we can't find much. The only place I can think of is Army Surplus but they don't carry ANY WWII gear, period. Any ideas???

There's tons of info on this forum about where to get german equiptment, try looking through the axis impression section, or the airsoft and impression market. Or mabye this little ignored thing called the search function, or the internet. Trust me, a little info diggin' goes a long way, and is much easier then asking everybody else for information thats already out there.

You have to pay to play my friend, and full impression will probably cost you around $400 or $500 dollars.

yep, germans definitely not cheap. I think the cheapest stuff thats somewhat passable is either some east german items, or stuff from hong kong keith. His stuff is cheap, but then again... its cheap.

Also not many events will happening now, since winter will be coming soon. I would say save money from Christmas,-or whatever holiday he celebrates-from birthday, and other hoildays; then come the year of '08 start working on gear and guns. Try Airsplat.com for a AGM MP40, I know some people here have had problems with them, but I have had only good experince with them. When there MP40 mags get back in stock get some, they run for $5 a price.

Doing German is not cheap. If you're looking for a cheap impression, there are probably better options...like Russian.

If he's young enough, why not Volkssturm? Get some Swiss or East German wool dress uniform jackets and trousers with East German boots from someplace like www.sportsmansguide.com, buy a good M43 hat from Trident Military, hit the thrift stores for a wide black or brown belt and a grey or black or brown cotton dress shirt, and order a $10 repro Volkssturm armband online. A small- to medium-sized teen could probably do an entire paramilitary-style uniform for around $100.

Volkstrum, Great idea! And its actually age realistic, way cheaper, and has a lot more lee-way than a standard German impression.
Hey Guinness, do they have a pamplet or translation book for that?

Old men, and young boys who were Germanys last line of defence in the later days of the war. They used a hodge podge of equipment, lots of WWI helmets and civilian clothes I guess.

The Volkssturm ("People's Stormtroopers") were formed by the Reich in the last year of the European war to aid in the defense of the Fatherland. The "volunteers" were mostly boys and old men, but also factory or government workers and many Hitler Youth. They were given minimal training and any leftover arms and uniforms available, sometimes captured French or Russian stuff. Contrary to popular belief, most Volkssturm refused to fight unless they were provided with some sort of uniform - so they wouldn't be shot as spies/partisans if captured. Their only official uniform was an armband and a set of black collar tabs. Hitler Youth Volkssturm usually insisted on wearing their black HitlerJugend field uniforms, while the old guys tended to wear their old WWI uniforms, and the rest were often given leftover Heer or Organization Todt uniforms if they didn't already possess some sort of civilian-style uniform like police or railway worker.
Do a Google search, you'll get all sorts of info. The Wikipedia entry is pretty good as well.

Ok thanks a lot! I think that I'm going to stop doing this for him cuz I need to start saving for an american assault vest. And if he's serious about this stuff he should be doing this, I'm not trying to be mean or anything, but I read a thread that said "the new M1 Carbine is a piece of crap!" and I bot it. So now I'm up a creek without a paddle. I'm thinking about a getting an AEG Tommy.

wouldn't a gun be much much more important then an assault jacket if your on a limited budget. Assault vests were in extremely limited use, even on d-day, and were ditched very quickly, usually within a number of hours or days. Why not write out an impression (gun included) list for yourself, see how much it all tally's up to, factor in the money you have, and get a good idea of what to get. A new cyma thompson would do you well, its a good gun for the money, and you wont spend much on it.

Elder- I know you got the M1 Carbine from WW2guns.com, we won't go back over all that But we never found out if you have the 'new' one or the older model- Here is how we can tell. Do you have to cock yours each time you shoot and it takes a short, straight magazine or does is take a curved magazine and once you fill the magazine with gas it shoots and moves the bolt with each shot? If it is the last one and you truly dont like it, I'll buy it from you. The 'This gun is a piece of ***' story is from our own gunfreak- Sadly, it turns out, he got a lemon
