Hello, I am going to start a separate thread regarding the creation of an airosft MAT49 I ve been always a fan of this thing and 10 years ago I built my first mockup replica for fotos....
after that I started a long process of getting me as meny original parts as possible - below the result:
and finally I was able to make me an airsoft MAT49 using the vz61 gearbox...
however the performance of the gearbox does not correspon so much to the invested money so I am looking for a possible way how to get more fps out of the gun..... since ARES slim motors are now available - I ve got some brand new possibilities.... however I am not so much sure if I can fit the gearbox into my existing MAT - I want to start with an easier task.... since 3d print is much more available now - why not to adapt the body little bit and print the whole thing out? so time is to start and below you can see the first results of teh effort... I d like to make it an easy AEG that accepts MP40 mags.... and runs with AK47 gearbox and hopup - with a minimum of modifications required ... albeit I expexxct that soe will be needed anyway - perhaps lowering the tappet plate to get the nozzle and cylindre head inline..... I am not sure if it will be possible to have the lower body in one piece or if the two pieces screwed together will be needed...... perhaps the firts test print will show the way...

I sadly must say, running an external air solenoid engine. Like polar star or wolverine might help you with this. Great work so far, but really a gas in mag would be ideal!

A next step has been taken - Aluminium receiver.... I was not quite happy with the 3d printed one - given the money and durability so I went for this one... hopefully I ll make it engraved as well.... on the next one I ll replace also the stock guiding tubes with metal ones.... but thats not such an issue - just matter of preference... also stock catch and mag cath will be steel....

There is nothing better than pressed metal. This is awesome! Is this something you can do with basic tools?

the simple enforcing ribs are quite easy - what you need is mold sheet and leading sheet.... and a tool - hardenet - and then a big hammer or vice...
the general shape is made by cnc machine - you can do it using a hand cotrolled tools, but since the company is making me the cutouts i order them to fold the metal as well - for extra 2bucks...
regarding the sheet pressing - i did as well STEN gun lower cover and french grenades spoons... only thing i needed was a time, welding machine, grinder and a vice....

Thanks - I see I am missing a lot of these - starting with time. I love to hear there is there a company that do cuts and folds metal for reasonable prices. Here - whenever I am asking, feels like they are looking to cover their whole CNC machine from my order.

they do charge a lot - usually -but in the case that you dont have the blueprints in correct data format. I am saving enormous money by providing already tuned files, that they can put straight in to the machine. So no brainwork needed from their side...

A fabulous effort and a fun that was in fairly widespread use by the Vietcong at least in the Central Highlands. I saw them quite often and thought it was a pretty cool little weapon. I never fired one. I am guessing that they were captured from French Paratroopers in the first Into China war?

meanwhile a little video of the old one shooting.... friven up to the max performance possible with AEP MP7 gearbox - 92m/s with .2 BBs, slihgthly hopped.... only two things I am not happy with is that the motor is weak and tends to overheat with longer bursts and weak tappet plate - common problem with all AEP replicas... www.youtube.com/watch?v=xqPCyfpy6jswith this one finished I can now focused more on the printed one at the moment workin on stocks and stock tubings seems that I ll make two way possibility of a battery pĂșlacement - a) alonside the gearbox - risky and tricky with lipol battery squeezed inbetween two metal parts, b) cable out back to the stock with a little battery plug on the back side of the receiver.... small stick cell shouldnt be so much visible on the stock....
