Why would you be using a German Breadbag if you are doing 29th Infantry?

I'm not using the breadbag for the 29th ID. My original Impression was going to be an SS or Wehrmacht sniper, but I decided to do American first. But I'm still going to do a Heer Sniper impression. While i'm at it, here's what i want for a sniper impression in the way of field gear, feel free to change as you see fit:
EM Belt Buckle, Silver Combat Y-Straps (I really want a set just because I could take the scope of my rifle and do normal Heer Rifleman) 2 K98 Pouches Breadbag Canteen Messkit Trench Knife
That's just the basic stuff i think would be good for a sniper. Like I said, feel free to change it.

Replace the trench knife with a Kar98 bayonet.

yeah, i wasn't sure about that. would a sniper have a bayonet? he wouldn't really have a use for one. but it would be great if i decided one day to go regular infantry.

Trench knifes were limited issue. Why would some one who deals death from afar need a knife for close quarters fighting? Go with a bayonet.

No messkit either , unless you are in the rear with the gear, you also need a camo Heer smock and camo cover for your helmet, an M43 hat , a spotting monocular(that's half of a set of binoculars) and a shovel to dig yourself a nest.

well, my reasoning for the trench knife would be if my postition got overran by a couple guys, i could probably knock one off with a chambered round, then pull my trench knife and hope like hell more guys weren't coming. hypothetically of course! ;D also, i just want a messkit for eating. i could eat the rations cold, but i'd prefer them hot. also, i was not going to get an e-tool just because i thought it would take up more room, but that's a good point, digging a nest.

Remember , snipers in the German army where very valuable and took sometime to train, so they where issued with sidearms , some did carry a trench knife and a pistol.

I read "The German sniper 1914-1945" by Peter R Senich that trenchknifes where standard issue to snipers,They apparently used it to trim branches and clear the "sniperspot" with them.. A realy great book by the way..
