I have sufficient components to do a K 98 conversion. I have a stock rear site, butt plate hanguard and hardware. All I need is a donor VSR spring rifle that I can buy cheap. Does anyone have an AGM MP001 or JG Bar 10 by chance? Perhaps know about a good source for one. A lot of places seem to be out of stock. With the low price of the excellent S&T this project almost doesn't make sense. I guess as much as anything I want to use up my left overs.

I've got a partially finished project that's been sitting here for years. I could part with the VSR10 part of it.

As always you're the man. Quote me a price and I'll take it off your hands. I have some thoughts about how I want to approach this build. I'll be using the S&T take off stock that is on hand due to your Kar98 lower stock. I just hate to see left overs go unused.
I looked into how the plastic S&T stock might adapt to VSR hardware and sadly it doesn't align quite right. The plan is to do the common forestock attachment and likewise attach the butt stock from the neck back. A three part marriage. Instead of a 2 part. This weekend I create take internals using the stock, hardware and a wide variety of misc odds and ends and make a prop gun Kar98. It looks pretty good. The bolt racks exposing a fake bullet in the chamber and it disassemble quite authentically. It was just something to do on a Covid afternoon. Resin paste and epoxy are hardening. I'll do some sanding and paint work tomorrow. It weighs nothing but it will be easy to add weights into the hollow stock.

I'll pack it up and ship it tomorrow or Tuesday. It's just cluttering up the closet now so I don't really need it.

I've decided upon receipt to make a pseudo Arisaka. With the left over take off Kar98 stock I think I'll just make a prop non shooting Kar98 with other stuff I have laying around.

Changed my mind and going back to the idea of doing a pseudo Kar98 as no.one here does PTO.

I cut to shape my MP001 stock (rounded off the C-stock area). Replicated the Kar98 butt plate.and added the forestock. A wood dowel solidly secured to the cut down stock tip and slathered in dynaglass. The lower stock band is thin and melted with heat gun and wrapped. The upper stock band will be more challenging but I have some thoughts? The upper hand guard should be easy enough. I have two more take off BAR10 composition stocks which I'm tempted to modify as well. The melting and shaping process is new to me but much easier than I had anticipated. I had no trigger guards and made three in about 5minutes. Once hot you just shape them around a curved shape sized right and once it cools its reshaped. You have about 30 seconds and if it isn't right just heat some more. I wish I had discovered and tried this year's ago.

I did the stock extension (Dynaglass)with the barrel in place. This insured a snug fit and hence no additional work later. To keep the dynaglass from sticking to the barrel I wrap it in latex gloves. I slop the resin paste on, cut the horizontal upper top of the new firestorm to align with the VSR stock and just lift it off. I could have done the upper hand guard at the same time but decided against it. The latex Works great. To further insure it separates okay I slather on car wax.

The dyna-glass process requires multiple layers of application and looks like a huge disaster as you're doing it. Initial applications are literally applied to "spot weld" your dowel in place and insure proper fit and alignment. Having done dozens upon dozens of these its not as disquieting as it was at first. I forgot how bad it looks early on. As I approach the final layers a cardboard "mold" lined in wax paper is a real time saver which dramatically reduces the sanding time. This effort is closest in process to my basic basic Enfield builds.
I am taking pictures as I go if anyone wants me to email a tutorial. This base rifle is an AGM MP001 but the process would be identical for a BAR10 (slightly different overall size however!
