I still haven't received my scream box but I have no doubt I can set it up for assorted sounds and that setting up a portable power source will be easy enough. The question is how loud will it be? If its even twice the volume of and AEG that would be fine. 3X as loud might create issues although the fact that it is adjustable is awesome. Wade did you say you were able to power it with just a 9volt?

Yes. To test it I just taped the leads onto a standard 9 volt battery. Will need to go to radio shack to buy some supplies including the pad that snaps onto the 9 volt battery and then solder it to the wiring of the box.
Volume is adjustable on the microprocessor, it’s a very small Philips head screw. It’s right next to the mini USB port.

Do you think the little speaker will be able to produce the kind of volume I'm hoping for? (Double the sound of an AEG?) Without blowing out the speaker? Certainly if a tiny 9 volt will power it. it will be possible to fit the whole set up in a box magazine. I'm getting pumped about the possibilities.

Perfect. That was what I was hoping to see/ hear. I am thinking short burst sound, full auto effects as my planned install (at least initially) will be for my crew served MGs. The beauty of the available sound effects is they have some for pretty much every conceivable weapon. It'll be cool ultimately if you can differentiate say an MP40 from a Thompson and an MG42 from a .30 Cal. Thanks Wade for Sharing and kicking this off!

Now they have another reason to hate us! Speakers on our guns! Heresy! Lol.
I’m going to run a PEQ style box on my AEG to house the unit. We had to pick and choose files. Some sounded better than others. Dunno why.
Anyhow! Enjoy!

I listened to hundreds of sound effect files and indeed some are way cooler than others. The 30 Cal MG burst was pretty cool. The MG34 was definitely distinctively different. In Vietnam just from the sound of the weapons you could tell which way the momentum of the fight was going as AK rounds were very different than 5.56.
