I mentioned this in another thread but I think it merits a unique thread. This system is a fabulous home target system, arcade like game and practical device to have fun sharpen your skills and frankly get the most out your personal BB gun arsenal. There are assorted sizes and they typically sell for $600.00 to $700.00. Not cheap by any means but in place of say 2 or 3 additional BB guns and well under a high priced premium AEG I think its a great value. Here is an excellent You tube video by Moondog that explains and demo's it far better than I could: moondogindustries.com/tag/gunpower-smt/I agree with his observations and thanks to him finally figured out how to mount the BB tray which was making me nuts. The base package provides a great selection of arcade like games. Simulated reactive targets and zeroing systems to fine tune your sights and optics. Since receiving one on loan I have been having a ball with it. My wife who is ABSOLUTELY not an airsoft enthusiast really enjoyed using it with gas blow back pistols and an AEG. She no longer complains about what lousey shots movie bad guys are and scoffs at the amazing shots the heros are. This system will definitely hone your skills. Compared to real steel practice at the range this is amazingly convenient and quickly pays for itself in ammunition.

I seem most commonly to use the standard silhouette target and practice quick draws, turn and shoots and rapid fires seeking tight shot groups. The hostage target is fun as well. As a two person event the dueling tree is quite animated and really fun. Its especially intense with gbb pistols and the need to do magazine reloads. An added element with many of these games are the bullet on metal sound effects. The reset controller stretches out about 20 feet and screws perfectly on a camera tripod (not included in the package) and make repeat plays a lit easier. In single play and dual play the system keeps score and tracks time. With that you can readily compete with yourself. At Tacoma Tac the plan is to use one of their available and unused big halls to set up an airsoft arcade and once a month set up and hold a sort of practical pistol competition event where the contestants move from target to target through a sort of a maze. The systems have the ability to be on line and interconnected so even with a dozen of these placed at assorted heights and angles a collective score that factors hits and time can be instantly tabulated.

With springers the time it takes to cock in most of the games is very much in sync with how long the flashing target stays viable. Hence I have to resort back to the "quick kill" training from back in the day where you keep both eyes open and with no real aiming point and shoot. Since the games are timed it's a pretty aerobic workout for this old man. One of the events is a zeroing target and of course it isnt scored or timed. I love the sound the hits make and that the artficial hole in your target looks convincingly like a bullet in a paper target. One other advantage is your hits are numbered in the order you fired them which at longer ranges helps you verify your adjustments. I managed to zero all my carbines and springer Garands. At 25 feet they all seemed to be about an inch and a half to 2 inches off. Nice tight shot groups so I still got it!

It was a bunch of pop up targets all linked to a computer and a read out. It stopped working and I could never get support so I sold it to a guy that already had one. I think for parts. I like the idea of yours being able to change games and screens! Back in the old days of Spokane Airsoft, John Webber (Recondo grad) would put on target challenges in the buildings of camp Comia. It was a lot of fun!

I put on a live fire, quick fire event using as many animated, fun to hit target as possible like Ritz crackers, baloons, flash boomers. (Groupings of those paper wrapped toss and explode firecrackers). It was fun but labor intense and messy.
These electronic games are fully automated so can be set up, monitored and run with an auto tally by as little as one person. In Helmutts sprawling campus he has, a thus far unused, building that has a maze of hallways, stairways, small and large rooms. 17 to 20 rooms! I invisioned a sort of room sweep competition where teams of 4, 5 or 6 stack at the front door and clear the structure as a timed event. Some rooms would have no targets while others would. Some of the targets might be the hostage targets while others would be the traditional silhouettes or even traditional circular targets. Each team has to take a shot on target. Winning teams would be a combination of times and accuracy. The targets would be identical for each round but relocated for each cycle. Perhaps 3 or 4 rounds for each team at a given event. Hellmutt has 12 of these systems and is planning to buy more. I think for folks who love CQB or law enforsement it could be excellent training and a lot of fun.

Alas I will have to bring it back to Hellmutt as it was just loaned out to try and to share ideas for use. Naturally my brain has been going on overtime. I love the device. The thin opaque liner that protects the touch screen does an amazing job of absorbing the BBs with a consistent drop into the bottom tray. There are slide in ribber shields for the edges as well. The result is that after hundreds (perhaps thousands) of shots I never had a single BB come back which of course is always an issue when shooting indoors. With BBs accumulating in the tray cleanup is a breeze. I didn't get a chance to sign up for and try any additional games but truthfully the initial package had plenty of variety and would provide hours and hours of enjoyment. The shield according to the manual will typically withstand 10s of thousands of hits and is replaceable.
The company that developed the system is in Korea and they are working on helmets and vests that will record hits and disable the players airsoft gun when the player is hit. The possibilities of this arrangement is very promising. In Korea I saw indoor airsoft arenas that seemed more like lazer tag pavilions and apparently use these systems. I will check to see next time i am in Korea. (I go several times a year.)

Helmets and vests that record hits. Now that is really cool. Keep a lot of people a little more honest.

Hellmut (Tacoma Tactical) feels strongly that until those systems become an intricate part of airsoft and in wide use Tournament play is simply an exercise in anger, disappointment and frustration. My participation in airsoft was never about "winning" or losing with a greater interest in emmersion and authenticity. So assuming it wasn't blatant an opponent not calling hits simply gave me more targets to shoot at. I was never a fan of even sides or scenarios that were "Fair". Combat isn't fair in fact if you get in a battle where both sides have a 50/50% chance of winning it's bad tactics.

Incidently he is holding a TOP Shot pistol competition using these systems in a competition tomorrow. The set up looks very compelling. His systems are on online so he has way way more cool games and exotic targets and games than what I have been fiddeling with in the basic system.
