When I visited Tacoma Tactical and had a lengthy conversation with "Helmutt" the owner he told me about a new trend he's seeing out of Asia. Quickly Substituting airsoft is a similar line of weaponry called GelSplat. The guns are an ever increasing line of AEG replicas. He had several and all of them were assorted stubby CQB type weapons. They are all 7.5 mm and the ammo comes in tiny bags with tiny dried balls at about 1 or maybe 2 mm. Apparently you soak them in water overnight and they swell up to gelatinous balls at uniform 7.5 mm. They fire at around 300 fps, semi and fully auto and splash when the hit something solid. No residual BBs and a wet splotch on your clothes. No sting but you feel them when they hit. Like mini paintballs without the mess. Its apparently catching on in Asia. Helmutt who has 4 or five seperate play areas in his complex. Has bought several dozen so gel splat parties can be going on seperate from his normal airsoft arenas. Incidently he had easily 100 players on site playing while I was there today and his retail showroom had 20 or more customers in his showroom. Quite the enterprise.

this is interesting. I guess this might work on a CQB playing ground where precision beyond 10m doesn't actually count. I am wondering how these would do in a 30m target test.

I only fired them at targets about 30 feet away. I suspect they wont do well at father ranges. Certainly quite effective in his CQB mazes. Incidently he designed a brilliant snap together wall bracket design that enamble 2 employees to comeplely change the floor layout in a large warehouse very quickly. Helmutts design and he has a myriad of wall sections for CQB play throughout his massive complex. His get ready staging areas are larger than most indoor airsoft entire field areas. Tacoma Tactical is huge.

As big as it has always been. Tacoma Tactical Hellmut was only using about half of the total square footage of the property he leases. It was once a massive cabinetry production facility. He is in the process right now of connecting what was previously two separate play areas and will create when he is done a huge singular play area. I believe he could easily accomodate 100 to 120 players in a continuous action all day event. He has no interest in doing that as on any given weekend he easily has 250 players cycle through without any special planning or promotions. It's a truly amazing facility. I 'd love to host a Stalingrad event there but I doubt I could get enough WW2 focused players to justify it. The venue however would be fabulous.
