I recently bought the A&K M1 Garand. I have an original M1942 bayonet and am looking to attatch it to the working lug. Problem is, I can't seem to get the orange tip off so that the ring can fit over the barrel. So to the owners of this gun, how did you take off the tip if you did?

Haven't tried to take mine off. It looks like there's a small set screw. Might also be glued in place. They really don't want them to come off.

I use a heat gun and if need be a dremel. I think they are glued on as well as the little set screw. Once removed on the S&T or GnG the bayonet will fit. It won't on an ICS however.
